For those who like to travel heavy, Air India has long offered at least a 10 kg excess baggage allowance when you have an active Air India loyalty membership on your ticket, even if it is a base category membership.
About a month back, however, Air India announced a new promotion, where they are offering everyone additionally free baggage allowance in Economy Class on domestic sectors. As per this promotion, if you bought an Air India domestic economy class ticket between August 12, 2015 and February 7, 2016, and you travel within these dates, you get 25 kilos baggage allowance instead of the usual 15.
The good news is, even if you booked up an Air India ticket for travel anytime before, you are eligible to take another 10 kilos in your economy class ticket, regardless of the 15 kilos stated in your ticket (a total of 25 kilos).
You still want more?
As a member of Air India’s Flying Returns, base members get 10 kilos excess baggage allowance. This promotional allowance is stackable, which means if you have your Air India membership on your ticket, you can get 35 kilos baggage allowance. And if you are a Silver/Gold/Maharajah member, you get excess baggage over and above 25 kilos instead of 15 kilos.
If anyone is thinking of moving homes, maybe right now is a good time to think about flying Air India across your city pair…
