Air India has been spending a lot of effort bringing planes back in the air from grounding, leasing planes to increase capacity, and adding capacity to existing routes or adding more flights to routes that used to be served in the past. However, Air India is now heading toward new routes, and the first one has been announced.
Air India will head to Phuket from Delhi four times a week.
Air India has announced that it will launch flights between Delhi and Phuket, a non-stop service that will be operated with an A320neo, effective December 15, 2023. IndiGo is the only airline operating flights between India (Delhi/Mumbai) and Phuket after Go First got grounded. The Air India service will replace the Go First service between Delhi and Phuket, which was operated till the airline was grounded.
Operated with an A320neo aircraft offering 162 seats (150 in Economy and 12 in Business Class), AI 378 will depart from Delhi at 0110 hours to arrive in Phuket the same day at 0710 hours. The return flight AI 379 will take off from Phuket at 0810 hours and land in Delhi at 1050 hours (Local Time).
Commencing with a four-flights-a-week schedule (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays), the service will be enhanced to a daily operation starting January 2024.
Air India currently operates 26 flights to Bangkok per week, with daily non-stop flights from Delhi and Mumbai and six flights a week from Kolkata. Besides, Air India passengers can avail convenient connections via Bangkok to and from 10 popular destinations in Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia on the network of Bangkok Airways, with whom Air India enjoys an interline partnership.
It is important to note that Thailand recently went from Visa on Arrival to Visa Free for Indians.
