Extended: Air India Offers 25% Discount on Award Redemptions: A Limited-Time Opportunity to Maximise Your Points

Given it is the low season for travel, airlines are now using the time to increase the engagement of loyal travellers. Here is a new promotion from the Air India Maharaja Club in this direction.

Air India redemptions are 25% off through August and September 2025

Air India had launched a new promotion aimed at encouraging travellers to redeem their Maharaja Club points. For a limited period, the airline is offering a 25% discount on award tickets booked across its domestic and international network, making this one of the more aggressive redemption sales from the airline in recent times.

A man in a suit is sitting in an airplane seat, using a tablet. Next to him is a table with a cup of coffee, a dessert, a bowl of nuts, sunglasses, and a smartphone. The text on the left side of the image reads "25% off on Award Flights" with a note that the offer ends on 30 September 2025.

The offer applies to award tickets booked and ticketed between August 1 and August 31, 2025 (now extended to September 30, 2025), with travel dates between August 1 and September 30, 2025. This window provides travellers with a fair amount of flexibility to plan a short getaway or even a long-haul vacation during the tail end of the summer season.

Unlike some past promotions restricted to specific routes or cabin classes, this offer is valid across all cabins — Economy, Premium Economy, Business Class and First Class — and across Air India’s entire operated network. This includes both narrow-body domestic flights and the airline’s wide-body-operated international routes, which are served by the Boeing 787 Dreamliners, Airbus A350s and Boeing 777s. Notably, this excludes codeshare flights or itineraries involving partner carriers; the discount applies only to segments operated by Air India’s metal.

The 25% discount is applied to the base mileage required for redemption; however, taxes, fees, and surcharges still apply as per usual. So, suppose a Business Class redemption from Delhi to London usually costs 125,000 Maharaja Club Points. In that case, you’ll be able to book the same seat for 93,750 miles under this promotion, with cash outlay for taxes remaining unchanged.

Even on domestic routes, the discounts make redemptions great. BOM-DEL or vv start at 5600 points.

The image shows a flight booking interface for a nonstop flight from Delhi (DEL) to Mumbai (BOM) with Air India (AI2421). The flight departs at 02:15 and arrives at 04:40, with a duration of 2 hours and 25 minutes. There are different seating options available: 1. Economy: Costs 5,625 points, with 4 seats left. Includes check-in baggage entitlement as per cabin, free seat selection for limited seats, and chargeable preferred seat selection from INR 200. 2. Premium Economy: Costs 9,750 points, with 2 seats left. Includes check-in baggage entitlement as per cabin, complimentary seat selection, and no preferred seat selection available. 3. Business: Costs 17,250 points, with 2 seats left. Includes check-in baggage entitlement as per cabin, complimentary seat selection, and no preferred seat selection available. 4. First: No fare available. The price from points is highlighted as 5,625.

Bookings can be made directly via the Air India website or mobile app, and the offer is automatically applied — there is no need to use promo codes or take special steps. That said, the availability of award seats remains subject to Air India’s discretion, and blackout dates or limited inventory may apply on high-demand routes or during peak weekend travel periods.

While Maharaja Club is not known for its stellar redemption value when benchmarked against global frequent flyer programmes, the domestic redemptions are good, and a 25% discount significantly boosts the overall value proposition, especially for premium cabin redemptions where cash fares tend to surge.

Bottomline

Air India’s new redemption promotion offers a 25% discount on award tickets across its network, valid for booking between August 1 and September 30, and for travel between August 1 and September 30, 2025. With this, the airline is presenting a compelling opportunity for Maharaja Club members to utilise their miles effectively, especially if you’ve been holding onto them without a clear plan. If your travel plans are flexible and you’re eyeing a premium cabin experience, this might be the perfect time to log in and redeem before award space becomes scarce.

    • @Praveen, many people also travel without their Children or don’t have to worry about them. Also, the sale is to prop up the period when occupancy is low.Cannot wait for exams.
