A few days back, the new Civil Aviation Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri announced that Air India would restart flights to Toronto. At that time we knew that Air India will operate 3x weekly 777-300ER flights on Amritsar-Delhi-Toronto route from September 27, 2019, but no schedule was published nor was the flight open for bookings.
Air India has now started accepting bookings for the new non-stop flight to Toronto from Delhi. The schedule for the flight is,
AI187 DEL0300 – 0845YYZ 77W 135
AI188 YYZ1145 – 1230(+1 day)DEL 77W 135
The Amritsar-Delhi connection leg isn’t open for bookings yet. Maybe they will offer connections using existing flights, AI 115/16 on Delhi-Amritsar route. Air India will operate a three class 777-300ER with 4 first class seats, 35 business class seats and 303 economy class seats. A roundtrip economy class ticket starts at INR 91K.
A roundtrip business class ticket starts at INR 230K.
First class seats are on sale starting at INR 521K.
You can also buy your tickets from OTAs such as MakeMyTrip, AkbarTravels, ClearTrip, GoIbibo, Expedia
Air India will compete with its fellow Star Alliance partner, Air Canada which will resume its daily 787-9 flights on Toronto-Delhi route from September 1, 2019.
What route will this flight take in case pak and Iran airspace is still closed?
I don’t know if one should call Air Canada a “partner.” Star Alliance is a very loose and large marketing vehicle. In fact there is plenty of conflict and competition within the various alliances. Think of Lufthansa vs Turkish or Cathay vs Qantas among others. On the other hand there are the very tight joint ventures like Air Canada-United-Lufthansa Group across the Atlantic.
The safest language would be “fellow Star Alliance member Air Canada”
Finally they have started selling the tickets.
It was about time they resumed these flights.
There will be good demand for sure on these flights and I’m glad they have resumed operations.
