On June 17, 2019, Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted that Air India will start nonstop flights on Mumbai-Nairobi route.
I am delighted to announce that on the occasion of World Tourism Day on 27th Sept 2019, @airindiain will begin a direct Mumbai-Nairobi flight (4 days a week) to improve air connectivity between India & Kenya. pic.twitter.com/fX26RYWpp2

Well, Air India will launch 4x weekly flights between Mumbai and Nairobi from September 27, 2019. Air India will deploy a Boeing 787-8 on this route. The schedule for the flight is,
AI961 BOM0400 – 0730NBO 788 x146
AI962 NBO0900 – 1730BOM 788 x146
The Air India 787 is certainly a comfortable aircraft. You can read the review of the Business Class on this aircraft here and Economy Class here.
Bookings for the new non-stop flight to Nairobi from Mumbai are expected to open up shortly.
You may also want to add details on Indigo’s new CCU-RGN-RGN flights. Air India operates the similar route with GAY as a stopover for CCU-GAY-RGN and RGN-CCU few days a week.
BTW Karan and Ajay,
If you see the airlineroute.net Twitter feed, you’ll notice that Ethiopian is adding ADD-BLR 4x weekly on a 738 beginning late Oct. 2019.
You can erase this now!
Yeah. This is a new connection to BLR.
B737 will fly out for 6.5 hours. Seems it will sit for a long time from morning to late night at BLR .
Timings are good enough at the moment. Hope they code share with KQ . But AI is Star alliance and KQ is SKY Team.
These days cross-alliance codeshares are the norm. See Cathay Pacific with Air Canada, Cathay Pacific with Lufthansa, American Airlines with Korean Air, American Airlines with China Southern. Should be others.
Does AI codeshare with any other airline offering further connections in Africa?
I believe AI has codeshare with EgyptAir and Ethiopian if I’m not mistaken.
