2024 is the year that American Express will return to take the pole position of being one of the best platforms to earn points. One of the recent properties launched by American Express, RewardsXcelerator, offers 10X points on a limited number of merchants when the transaction is made with your American Express Platinum Card or American Express Centurion Card.

What is American Express RewardsXcelerator?

RewardsXcelerator is only for cardmembers with the American Express Platinum Card and the Centurion Cards, issued in India, for select participating merchants. You get 10X or 20X MR points, as determined by Amex, under which the brand participates.

Here is how the promotion works:

  • Get 20X Membership Rewards Points on each spend on your card at participating merchants.
    • Centurion Card: Cardmembers will receive 6 Membership Rewards points (Standard American Express Membership Rewards) and 114 Bonus Membership Rewards points for every INR 200 Spent on a Centurion Card.
    • Platinum Card: Cardmembers will receive 1 Membership Rewards point (Standard American Express Membership Rewards) and 19 Bonus Membership Rewards points for every INR 40 Spent on a Platinum Card.
  • Get 10X Membership Rewards Points on each spend on your card at participating merchants. 
    • Centurion Card: Cardmembers will receive 6 Membership Rewards points (Standard American Express Membership Rewards) and 54 Bonus Membership Rewards points for every INR 200 Spent on a Centurion Card.
    • Platinum Card: Cardmembers will receive 1 Membership Rewards point (Standard American Express Membership Rewards) and 9 Bonus Membership Rewards points for every INR 40 Spent on a Platinum Card.

You don’t have to go through any specific links, but you have to transact on the official website of the participating merchant using your Platinum or Centurion Card. The offer also applies to transactions taken with Supplementary Card(s).

Get 10X Membership Rewards on Booking Air India Tickets with American Express.

Air India has recently been brought on board the Amex RewardsXcelerator platform. If you use your American Express Platinum Card (Metal) to book Air India tickets (through December 6, 2024), you will get 25 Membership Rewards points for booking your Air India tickets directly with the airline on www.airindia.com.

The promotion has no upper cap, so you can book tickets for yourself and your family and friends with your American Express Platinum Card. For booking with your Centurion Card, you get 60 Membership Rewards points per INR 200 spent on the card.

This instantaneously makes the American Express Platinum Card one of the most lucrative ways to book Air India travel, earning 25 MR/INR 100 for most members (12.5 Airmiles or 25 Marriott Bonvoy points equivalent).

  1. Magnus burgandy also gives the same number of MB points per Rs 100 spent on travel edge (for all airlines). Rates have been competitive in my experience.
