Air India, which is currently trying to revamp the product on the 787 and 777 fleet, is going to be tinkering on the Summer 2025 Schedule, which will go live towards the end of March 2025 to increase the frequencies on many European routes, while they will take away the Mumbai – Melbourne flight altogether, which was launched in 2023.
Air India to enhance the European/African route network, operated with the 787-8

- Far East Asia:
- Delhi-Seoul (Incheon) will increase from 4x to 5x weekly flights
- Delhi-Hong Kong will be upgraded from A321 to B787 Dreamliner on seven weekly flights

Air India to cut Mumbai – Melbourne and Kochi – London Gatwick
Arising from the retrofit program and consequent temporary reduction in the operational fleet, Air India will suspend its non-stop Mumbai-Melbourne service between March 30 and September 13, 2025, and the non-stop Kochi-London Gatwick route from March 30, 2025 until further notice. Air India will continue to operate 12x weekly flights to London Gatwick from Amritsar, Ahmedabad and Goa.
Bottomline
Air India is reshuffling its Boeing 787-8 route network to get aircraft out of service and send them for a retrofit. The airline is pulling flights between Mumbai and Melbourne temporarily and between Kochi and London Gatwick. Some routes get more flights, and these are into the UK, continental Europe, Asia and Africa.
