Air Asia moving to Terminal 1 in Mumbai from October 15, 2019

The airport musical chairs continue with Jet Airways folding up. At Delhi Airport, with expansion in mind, it was announced that IndiGo and SpiceJet would move out from Terminal 2 (IndiGo partly albeit), and relocate to Terminal 3. This way, IndiGo would now offer domestic flights from Terminal 1,2,3 at Delhi Airport, and SpiceJet from Terminal 1 and 3.

It seems that was not the only reshuffle that was going to happen. SpiceJet is moving out of the Mumbai Airport Terminal 1 and relocating their entire operations to Mumbai Airport Terminal 2 with effect from October 1, 2019. On the same day, GoAir will move a lot of their flights back from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1.

Now, Air Asia India has announced, that all their domestic flights (basically all their flights right now), operating from Mumbai, will also move to Terminal 1 from October 15, 2019.

Air Asia Mumbai Terminal

So, if you are scheduled to fly Air Asia’s domestic flights after October 15, 2019, you should find your way to the Mumbai Airport Terminal 1B instead of Terminal 2.

Bottomline

It seems like, with these moves, Air Asia India is finally getting an opportunity to get back into its low-cost shoes. Terminal 1 is a functional experience at best, over Terminal 2’s premium experience.

What do you think of Air Asia India’s move to Mumbai Airport Terminal 1?
