One of the new enhancements that JetPrivilege rolled out for members a few weeks ago was the extension of their miles validity from 3 years to 5 years, as long as you had one co-branded debit or credit card, and one activity on the card in the past year. I think it is a great feature to offer, and I personally benefit from it if I drop off from my Platinum status sometime.
Now, just very recently, HDFC and JetPrivilege’s co-branded debit card, dropped fees to INR 500 per annum (free for first year for Classic,Preferred and Imperia banking members). In this case, you’re getting 1000 JP Miles, to set up your debit card, 2000 JP Miles for your first transaction as well. Along comes an INR 750 discount coupon for a round trip.
If you manage to swap out and set up this new debit card, on HDFC Bank’s netbanking facility by today (January 31, 2015), you also get 500 JP Miles bonus for doing this online.
Update: The extra 500 JP Miles for the upgrade are now available till February 15, 2015.

How can i extend my jp miles as dey getting expire on 22 September 18.
Is there anyway to log in into the jet privilege site using the jp number on the card ? Since it shows as incorrect jp number on 9W :S
You can get 500 bonus jp miles if you upgrade by 15th Feb through netbanking
Thanks, i applied for HDFC debit card online before Jan 31 without realising about the bonus. Was not aware about the extension of validity of JP miles, thanks for the heads up again.
Can someone please explain how to calculate miles earned based on spending ? My current card lets me earn 2 miles for every 150 rupees that i spend and 4 miles for every 150 rupess i spend on the airline website. Any help folks ? Cheers 🙂
@MJ ain’t it simple math and you already know it 🙂
@Ajay: Looks like it was a temp glitch over the weekend. There’s no YQ now 🙂
@Pratiti: Looks like Jet is adding YQ to all redemptions now. I didn’t see YQ when I last redeemed in the first two weeks of January – seems to be a new addition. Maybe they prefer award tickets to be redeemed on premiere.
@Sai & @pratiti I am not seeing any YQ on award tickets. Maybe it was a glitch? Check again?
Ajay, has jet changed domestic miles redemption structure from 1st feb 2015? In jan 2015, BLR to PNR flight was 6000 JP miles and INR 657 as taxes and convenience fee. Today, Jet is charging 6000 JP miles, INR 657 as taxes AND INR 1800 as YQ for the same route and date. So the total is now INR 2457 vs INR 657 in Jan2015. Is this a system error or the future of domestic miles redemption?
Never mind, I found it now.
Please help – how do I swap my existing debit card for the JP branded one? I don’t see a link on my netbanking account?
Just figured out that the base fare + YQ is 2250 on each leg.
@Ajay I know that the change affected the accrual & redemption. Did it also affect the base fare? The number of miles is the same but they have a base fare of 4500 + 1100 taxes on top of 15000 miles. This means 15000 miles are worth INR600 (normal fare is 6200, with “award” it is 5600+15k miles!)
Have 9W changed their miles redemption? Last year I used 15000 miles to book BOM-MAA return and had to pay 1100 as taxes, etc. I tried booking the same ticket now, and it costs me 15k miles + 5600 (which is almost as much as the normal price)
@sai there was a change to the mileage redemptions as of sep/oct 2014
requested for the debit card upgrade two weeks ago, haven’t received it yet.
Called cx and they told that I should receive it by feb 5th.
Thanks, i had a few Jetmiles that were expiring in March, and i saw this and have sent in my Debit card upgrade request today
