Last week, I wrote about the addition of a digital wallet to Uber in India, done largely with the intention to comply with Indian payment guidelines. The additional benefit of course, is that you get to use debit cards and net banking to pay for your uber rides. Now, they have brought out a promotion across India to promote usage of the new payment option.
As per Uber, if you add a Paytm wallet to your account by November 19, 2014 (23:59 IST) and recharge it (procedure described here), you get a free ride upto INR 500 which you can use up to November 23, 2014.
Remember, the minimum recharge is INR 100, and even a minimum recharge should be able to get you the free ride. INR 500 is a lot of money to drive an Uber around the city.
As of this moment, I have an update that Bangalore,Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Chennai have this promotion going on. So, if you are in any of these cities, do grab your free ride by adding Paytm as your payment option.
Additionally, you can receive another INR 300 as credits for future rides by signing up with my Uber referral code.

I believe the 500 won’t be added to my Uber credit but will be shown as a discount on the bill after completing the ride (before 23rd November)
The payment options on both the app and the website have not been updated with the option to add paytm wallet.
Dunno why uber launched this when they have not got even the basics in place? sad state of affairs.
@Nilesh the payment option appears only on the ios and android apps if you set your location to india. Cant be linked via website yet.
And are we still allowed to use our linked/stored credit cards for Uber in India??
Isn’t anyone worried about giving access to apps which can track you at all times?
I wonder what permissions you have to allow this PayTM app…
Add Pune in the cities list too. Just got an email from them.
@Deo, thanks. I added that to the list
