8 great miles and points buying opportunities available as of June 13, 2026

Since the pandemic, travel has roared back, and with it, hotel and flight rates have climbed to eye-watering levels, particularly in the premium and luxury segments. The silver lining is that almost every major airline and hotel programme periodically puts its miles and points on sale, either at a discount or with a bonus, and buying at the right moment can dramatically undercut the cash price of a premium-cabin seat or a luxury hotel night. This is a good moment to take stock of what is currently for sale, so you can top up the right balances for your upcoming trips.

United MileagePlus is offering up to a 100% bonus on purchased miles (Through June 24, 2026)

Through Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 11:59 PM Central Time, United Airlines MileagePlus is offering its mileage sale with a bonus of up to 100% on purchased miles. As with all United mileage sales, the offer is targeted, so the bonus tier in your account may differ from the headline maximum — some members are seeing 55% or lower. The published best offer is as follows:

  • Buy 5,000 – 19,000 miles for a 75% bonus  (USD 2 cents  per mile / INR 1.90)
  • Buy 20,000–25,000 miles for a 95% bonus (USD 1.79 cent per mile / INR 1.70)

Some accounts have also been targeted for a 100% bonus, bringing the price to USD 1.75 cents per mile (INR 1.66). MileagePlus does not pass on fuel surcharges to customers for award redemptions, and Air India is part of the United partner fold, which keeps Star Alliance redemptions practical in India.

United has changed the rules this year. You can now buy only 50,000 miles (inclusive of bonus) within any rolling 90-day window and a maximum of 200,000 miles per calendar year. That cap counts bonus miles toward the limit, which meaningfully reduces the purchase ceiling.

Lufthansa Miles & More 300,000 miles (Through June 30, 2026)

This one is structured differently from the conventional buy-miles offers in this roundup. Lufthansa has historically been reluctant to sell Miles & More miles directly to consumers at a stated price per mile — German consumer protection law has created friction around mileage expiration and valuation disclosures that has led to lawsuits in the past. The workaround is a membership bundle that bundles a large miles allocation alongside travel perks, without assigning an explicit per-mile price to the package.

The vehicle here is Magnify Club’s new Globetrotter membership, which delivers 300,000 Lufthansa Miles & More miles alongside a GHA Platinum Tier status. The membership is priced at INR 4,50,000, which works out to INR 1.50 per Miles & More mile.

Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards is offering up to a 100% bonus on purchased miles (Through July 5, 2026)

The headline airline offer this week is from Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards, which is running a tiered bonus of up to 90% on purchased miles through Sunday, July 5, 2026. The standard buy rate is USD 3.50 cents per mile (USD 35.00 per 1,000 miles), and purchases are available from a minimum of 3,000 miles up to a maximum of 100,000 base miles per calendar year. The tiered structure is as follows:

  • Buy 5,000–14,999 Atmos Rewards miles for an 80% bonus (USD 2.09 cents per mile / INR 1.99)
  • Buy 15,000–29,999 Atmos Rewards miles for a 90% bonus (USD 1.98 cents per mile / INR 1.88)
  • Buy 30,000–100,000 Atmos Rewards miles for a 100% bonus (USD 1.88 cents per mile / INR 1.79)

At the top tier, if you purchase 100,000 base miles, you receive 200,000 total Atmos Rewards points at a cost of approximately USD 3,500 (INR 3,32,500). That works out to roughly 1.88 USD cents or INR 1.79 per Atmos Rewards mile — a good rate for a programme with strong oneworld partner coverage.

For Indian travellers, Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards (formerly Mileage Plan) is most relevant as a Star partner redemption tool — the programme partners with American Airlines and several others, but its standout sweet spots have historically been on Cathay Pacific and on premium-cabin redemptions to North Asia. Its Indian partner footprint is more modest, so this is best considered an aspirational buy if you have a confirmed itinerary that aligns with the partner network.

Marriott Bonvoy is offering a 40% bonus or 30% discount on points (Through June 23, 2026)

Through Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Marriott Bonvoy is offering a 40% bonus or a 30% discount on points purchased, with a minimum of 2,000 points and a maximum of 150,000 points per transaction (excluding the bonus). With the 40% bonus structure, the effective cost is approximately USD 0.89 cents (INR 0.85) per Marriott Bonvoy point.

If you max out at 150,000 base points with the 40% bonus, you will end up with 210,000 Bonvoy points at a cost of approximately USD 1,875 (INR 1,78,125).

For Indian travellers, Marriott Bonvoy remains the most useful hotel currency thanks to its extensive footprint and the 5th night free benefit on award stays. The points are particularly handy at the high end — think St. Regis Maldives, W Maldives, JW Marriott Phu Quoc — where cash rates have run away in the post-pandemic environment. Note that this offer expires in about ten days, so if Marriott Bonvoy is in your plans for the next few months, now is the time to act.

Wyndham Rewards is offering up to an 80% bonus on the purchase of points (Through July 3, 2026)

Through Friday, July 3, 2026, Wyndham Rewards is offering a bonus of up to 80% on purchased points, with the top bonus kicking in on a minimum buy of 3,000 points. Note that the offer is partly targeted, so some accounts may see a bonus of up to 70% rather than the full 80%. The standard buy rate is 1.3 USD cents per point, and members can ordinarily purchase up to 100,000 base points per calendar year. If you max out the 80% tier, you can pick up 180,000 points (100,000 base plus 80,000 bonus) for USD 1,300 (INR 1,23,500), which works out to approximately 0.72 USD cents (INR 0.68) per point. Purchased points typically post within 72 hours.

Wyndham’s award chart is simple, with three flat tiers of 7,500, 15,000 and 30,000 points per night. At 0.68 INR per point, that puts an entry-level redemption at roughly INR 5,100 a night and a top-tier property at around INR 20,400 a night before you even consider the value of the cash rate you are offsetting.

Hilton Honors is offering a 100% bonus on purchased points (Through July 24, 2026)

Through Friday, July 24, 2026, Hilton Honors is running a flat 100% bonus on all purchased points, with a minimum buy of 5,000 base points and a maximum of 160,000 base points per transaction. With the 100% bonus applied, the effective cost works out to approximately 0.50 USD cents (INR 0.48) per Hilton Honors point.

At the maximum 160,000-point purchase, you will receive 320,000 Hilton Honors points for approximately USD 1,600 (INR 1,52,000). That is a substantial haul — enough for meaningful redemptions across Hilton’s large Asia-Pacific footprint, including Conrad Maldives Rangali Island (around 95,000 points per night at off-peak periods), Conrad Bengaluru, and Waldorf Astoria properties across the region.

At half a cent per point, Hilton Honors sits firmly in “buy only against a confirmed redemption” territory. The programme publishes dynamic pricing for most of its portfolio, so knowing which specific property and dates you are targeting before you buy is important. That said, for aspirational luxury stays — particularly at Conrad and Waldorf Astoria properties in Asia — the maths can work out very well against cash rates.

World of Hyatt is offering a 20% bonus on the purchase of points (Through July 27, 2026)

Through Monday, July 27, 2026, World of Hyatt is offering a 20% discount on the purchase of points, with a minimum buy of 5,000 points and a maximum of 55,000 base points per account per calendar year (which, with the 20% bonus applied, lets you pick up 66,000 points for a total spend of USD 1,430 — approximately INR 1,35,850). That works out to roughly 2.17 USD cents (INR 2.06) per World of Hyatt point.

World of Hyatt is one of the few hotel programmes still publishing a category-based award chart, which makes the maths predictable. For Indian travellers, the most attractive use cases tend to be the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa and Andaz Bali at the top end, and the Park Hyatt Bangkok and Grand Hyatt Phu Quoc in Asia. At 2.06 INR per point, you are paying more per point than you do with Hilton, Wyndham, or IHG — but Hyatt’s award chart and partner footprint in premium Asia markets justify the premium for the right redemption.

Which credit card should you use to buy miles and points?

Typically, these point purchases are processed through Points.com, rather than directly by the hotel or airline. However, you will almost always pay in USD/EUR/GBP, not INR. The best cards for earning a bonus are the Axis Bank Olympus, American Express Platinum Charge Card, and Axis Bank Reserve Credit Card, as they offer an international spending bonus. Beyond these, consider any card that offers a reduced foreign exchange conversion rate or helps you meet minimum spend requirements, such as Scapia.

So what points are you shopping for your next trip out of town? Anything we missed?
