Hotel loyalty programmes are constantly competing for the attention of frequent travellers, and one of the easiest ways to win over new members is through a status match. Best Western Rewards has one of the simplest status match offers in the industry right now, allowing travellers with elite status in another hotel programme to receive equivalent status with Best Western Rewards at no cost.
Even better, members approved for a status match in 2026 can keep their matched status through December 2027.
Best Western’s “Status Match… No Catch” offer
Best Western Rewards operates what it calls its “Status Match… No Catch” programme. The concept is straightforward: if you hold elite status with another hotel loyalty programme, Best Western will review your status and grant you a corresponding Best Western Rewards elite tier. There is no fee, no challenge requirement, and no need to complete a set number of stays to receive the status.
Unlike many hotel chains that offer only temporary status and then require members to complete a challenge to retain it, Best Western grants the status outright once approved. Members receiving a match in 2026 will retain their elite tier through December 31, 2027.
Which status can you receive?
Best Western Rewards has four elite tiers:
* Gold Elite
* Platinum Elite
* Diamond Elite
* Diamond Select Elite
The company does not publish a formal matching chart, but it states that status levels are matched based on comparable qualification requirements from competing hotel programmes. Higher-tier members in programmes such as Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, IHG One Rewards, World of Hyatt, Wyndham Rewards and others can generally expect to receive an equivalent Best Western tier, potentially up to Diamond Select, the programme’s highest published level.
For reference, Best Western normally requires:
* 5 nights for Gold
* 7 nights for Platinum
* 15 nights for Diamond
* 25 nights for Diamond Select
to earn status organically.

How to request the match
The process is simple. First, join Best Western Rewards if you are not already a member.
Then send an email with the following information:
- Full name
- Full address
- Email address
- Phone number
- Best Western Rewards membership number
- Proof of elite status in another hotel loyalty programme
Acceptable proof includes a screenshot of your account, a digital membership card or a recent account statement showing your name and current status level. For instance, I matched earlier in the year and got myself Diamond Select status against Marriott Platinum Elite.
Members in North America can email StatusMatch@bestwestern.com, while members outside North America can submit requests to bwr.service@bestwestern.com.
Is it worth doing?
For many travellers, yes. Best Western may not be the first hotel brand that comes to mind for luxury stays, but it operates thousands of hotels globally across multiple brands and is particularly strong in smaller cities, roadside locations and secondary markets where other global chains may have limited presence.
Best Western’s footprint in India remains relatively modest compared to Marriott, Hilton or IHG, with approximately 30 hotels operating across the country under the Best Western, Best Western Plus, Aiden and SureStay brands.
Elite benefits include bonus points on stays, complimentary water at check-in, priority customer service and, depending on tier and availability, early check-in and late checkout. Higher-tier members earn substantial bonus points on paid stays, with Diamond Select members receiving up to a 50% bonus. Since the status match costs nothing and requires no hotel stays, it is one of the easiest loyalty opportunities currently available.
Bottomline
Best Western Rewards continues to offer one of the most generous hotel status match programmes in the industry. If you already hold elite status with Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, IHG One Rewards, World of Hyatt or another major hotel chain, you can receive equivalent Best Western Rewards status for free and keep it through the end of 2027. With no challenge requirement and a straightforward email-based application process, this is an easy status match worth considering.
