Apple products rarely come cheap, which is why every new card-linked offer on iPhones, iPads, and Macs tends to generate significant interest among consumers. Over the years, we’ve seen HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, American Express, and Axis Bank periodically offer cashback, EMI benefits, or accelerated rewards on Apple purchases.
Now, HSBC India has entered the fray with a new partnership that could be attractive to its premium cardholders.
HSBC partners with Unicorn for accelerated rewards on Apple purchases
HSBC India Credit Cards has rolled out an offer in partnership with Unicorn, one of India’s largest Apple Premium Reseller chains. Under the promotion, HSBC Credit Card holders can earn 5X – 6X accelerated reward points when purchasing Apple products through the dedicated HSBC-Unicorn portal. The offer has been promoted by HSBC India through its official social media channels and is positioned as an exclusive benefit for HSBC Credit Card customers.

While HSBC has traditionally allowed Premier cardholders to redeem points for Apple vouchers and merchandise, this is one of the more direct Apple purchase propositions from the bank in recent times. HSBC has also highlighted Apple-specific earning opportunities as part of the enhanced Premier rewards ecosystem.
Here are the four cards that are eligible under this promotion:
- HSBC Privé: 6X Points (30 points per INR 150)
- HSBC Premier 6X Points (18 points per INR 100)

Why this matters
For years, Apple purchases in India have largely revolved around instant cashback offers. Last year, for instance, Apple buyers could receive up to INR 8,000 in instant cashback through participating cards from ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and American Express, following the end of HDFC Bank’s exclusive partnership with Apple India for offers. HDFC Bank Credit Cards still has a promotion with Imagine/Tresor that gives you bonus points on purchases made with the premium credit cards.

How valuable is 6X Rewards?
The exact value proposition depends on your redemption strategy.
A customer purchasing a high-value MacBook Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max or an Apple ecosystem upgrade worth several lakh rupees could generate a substantial number of HSBC Reward Points under the accelerated earning structure. Those points can subsequently be transferred to airline and hotel partners or redeemed through HSBC’s rewards marketplace. For frequent travellers, especially those already collecting airline miles, the effective return could be meaningfully higher than a traditional cashback promotion.
HSBC’s broader premium rewards push
The Unicorn partnership is part of HSBC India’s broader effort to strengthen its rewards proposition for affluent customers.
Over the past year, HSBC has revamped its rewards ecosystem, expanded redemption options and introduced enhanced earning opportunities across travel and lifestyle categories. The bank now positions rewards as a key differentiator for products such as the HSBC Premier Credit Card, HSBC Privé and HSBC TravelOne.
The HSBC Premier Credit Card highlights Apple-related benefits, including reward-earning opportunities for Apple purchases and premium merchant partnerships. Earlier on, HSBC Credit Cards also offered access to the Samsung Galaxy lineup with a discount and offered 10x points on Dyson purchases.
Bottomline
If you’ve been planning an Apple purchase and already hold an HSBC Premier Credit Card, the new HSBC-Unicorn partnership is worth a look. While it may not provide the instant gratification of a cashback offer, earning 6X reward points on Apple purchases could generate significantly more value for those who redeem their HSBC points for airline miles or hotel stays.
As always, the real value depends on how you redeem your points. For savvy travellers, however, this could be one of the more rewarding ways to buy an Apple product in India today.
Oh, and I understand that HSBC Travel One is not a part of this offer, and that is what puts the card in its place, a great card for travel, but not for lifestyle.
What do you think of HSBC India’s new 5X-6X Rewards offer on Apple purchases through Unicorn?
