It hasn’t been long that we had perhaps one of the most devastating and fatal crash in the history of India and the globe, the Boeing 787-8 crash of Air India 171, operating between Ahmedabad and London Gatwick, as of June 12, 2025. The Air India headquarters have been seeing a steady stream of high profile visitors since then.
Tata Chairman N Chandrasekhar visited the Air India Headquarters
N Chandrasekaran, chairman of Air India and Tata Sons, visited the airline’s headquarters yesterday, and addressed over 700 employees at the training academy of the airline, which is housed in the same complex. Chandra, as he is referred to inside the Tata Group, said,
It was not easy at all. I’ve seen a fair share of crises in my career, but nothing as heartbreaking as this. I never imagined I would face something like this.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stephanie Pope visits the Air India Headquarters
The CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Stephanie Pope, met the chairman of Air India on Monday, while the both of them were at the Gurugram headquarters of Air India. She was accompanied by Boeing India President, Salil Gupte. This was a private meeting, to discuss the crash, however, it was confirmed by Reuters and The Seattle Times independendently. The Seattle Times source was another Boeing customer, who got a message from Boeing about the visit of Pope.
GE Aerospace CEO comes calling as well
GE Aerospace, whose engines were hung on the 787-8 aircraft that crashed, also came calling at the Air India headquarters in Gurugram. GE Aerospace CEO for Commercial Engines and Services, Russell Stokes, and Vikram Rai, CEO, South Asia for GE Aerospace visited Air India.
While Chandra’s focus was on talking to Air Indians, pacifying them, and giving them a pep talk perhaps, the rest of the visitors came to discuss with the airline, or perhaps just to pay their condolences. The ball currently is in the court of the AAIB of India, which is the lead investigating agency on the accident/crash.
What do you think transpired in these meetings?

Perhaps there are some preliminary findings or observations that the airline is privy to, and has summoned the vendors to discuss before it goes public?
Speculation, but calling the respective ceo’s seems to go beyond courtesy visits, right?
What’s your take Ajay?
@Nom de plume, they could just be visiting to pay their condolences, or express sympathy. Or there could be more to it, we can’t say because there is no readout of the meeting. What is known is they were there, that’s it.
