Air India and Singapore Airlines are colleagues in the Star Alliance network, and Singapore Airlines (and other Singapore-based entities) have been close to the Tata Group for a long time. This closeness and willingness to do business together led to Vistara being born a decade ago. And now, as Vistara comes close to being subsumed into Air India, SQ and AI have now formed a deeper codeshare partnership.
Air India and Singapore Airlines codeshare partnership expands.
Air India and Singapore Airlines have significantly expanded their codeshare agreement, adding 11 Indian cities and another 40 international destinations to their network. This marks the first extensive expansion of codeshare arrangements between the airlines since 2010, offering their passengers enhanced travel options between Singapore and India and beyond.
From October 27, 2024, Air India and Singapore Airlines will codeshare on each other’s flights between Singapore and the Indian cities of Bengaluru and Chennai, increasing their total weekly scheduled codeshare services between the countries to 56 from 14.
Further, Singapore Airlines will codeshare on Air India’s domestic flights between:
- Delhi and Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Lucknow, and Varanasi
- Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Goa, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram
- Kolkata and Guwahati.
Air India customers will be able to access 29 destinations across SIA’s network. These are as follows:
- Australia: Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney
- Brunei: Bandar Seri Begawan
- Cambodia: Phnom Penh and Siem Reap
- Indonesia: Denpasar, Jakarta, Medan, and Surabaya
- Japan: Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo-Haneda, and Tokyo-Narita
- South Korea: Busan and Seoul
- Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur and Penang
- New Zealand: Auckland
- The Philippines:Cebu and Manila
- Vietnam: Danang, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City
Singapore Airlines customers will be able to access international services to 12 Destinations on Air India’s network when flying West to Europe, Middle East and Africa:
- Denmark: Copenhagen
- France: Paris
- Germany: Frankfurt
- Italy: Milan
- Kenya: Nairobi
- The Netherlands: Amsterdam
- Saudi Arabia: Jeddah and Riyadh
- Sri Lanka: Colombo
- United Kingdom: Birmingham, London-Gatwick, and London-Heathrow
This is how the network map would look for SQ-operated flights (marketed by AI in Red Lines) and AI-operated flights (marketed by SQ, in Yellow lines).
Will this pan out into a more profound cooperation over time? We have yet to determine, but for Singapore Airlines to entrust their customers to another airline with a medley of products is undoubtedly interesting for now. Remember, SQ is cooperating with Air India as a shareholder of about 25.1% (effective November 12, 2024), and Singapore Airlines calls this investment a part of their investment in a multi-hub strategy.
Bottomline
Air India and Singapore Airlines are deepening their partnership with a comprehensive codeshare pact that allows Air India passengers to hop off from Singapore onto an SQ aircraft to 29 destinations and for a Singapore Airlines passenger to arrive in India and travel to a domestic destination, or travel to an international destination into Africa, the Middle East or Europe with Air India.

Hi Ajay..
Thanks a lot for sharing the article and the details..
There is a line: “This is how the network map would look for SQ (operated by AI, in Red Lines) and AI (operated by SQ, in Yellow lines).”
Should it not be “This is how the network map would look for SQ operated flights(marketed by AI in Red Lines) and AI operated flights(marketed by SQ, in Yellow lines).” ?
The yellow lines in the map clearly are AI operated flights and the red lines are operated by SQ..unless I am mistaken..
Thanks and keep up the good work !
Regards,
Ashish
