With the new escalation in tensions in the Middle East, airlines worldwide are now beginning to temporarily cancel flights to Israel shortly after they started to fly in again.
Air India cancels flights to Israel through August 8
Air India cancelled its flight that was supposed to operate to Tel Aviv on August 1, 2024.
Subsequently, the airline cancelled flights through August 8, 2024. Here is the statement from Air India,
In view of the ongoing situation in parts of the Middle East, we have suspended scheduled operation of our flights to and from Tel Aviv with immediate effect up to and including 08 August 2024. We are continuously monitoring the situation and are extending support to our passengers with confirmed bookings for travel to and from Tel Aviv during this period, with a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges. Safety of our guests and crew remains our foremost priority.
Other airlines cancel flights to Tel Aviv too.
Several global airlines, including United Airlines, Delta Air, British Airways, and Lufthansa, also temporarily suspended flights to Israel amid growing tensions in the region.
Delta Air Lines suspended flights through August 2 but is issuing a travel waiver for everyone who is supposed to travel on their flights through August 14, 2024, at least. United also cancelled flights, but there is no update on how long this lasts for them.
Other carriers, including Lufthansa, Austrian, and Swiss, cancelled passenger flights through August 8, according to a statement. The German-owned airline conglomerate also extended a halt on its flights to and from the Lebanese capital, Beirut, through August 12.
Bottomline
Air India and many global carriers have cancelled some flight operations into Tel Aviv due to the new security situation in the Middle East. If you are scheduled to fly over, check with your airline.
Do you think this is going to be a protracted situation in the Middle East again or just a nothing to worry about one?
