Citi Prestige to transition to Axis Bank Olympus Credit Card soon

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the transition of some major Citi Credit Cards to Axis Bank’s product portfolio. Since 2023, Axis Bank has been managing the portfolio for Citi products in India after transferring the assets and liabilities to its books. Now that the bank has shifted the Citi banking products to Axis Bank products, it is focussing on transitioning the credit card products. Citi PremierMiles becomes Axis Bank Horizon, for instance.

Citi Prestige to transition to Axis Bank Olympus

Now, we finally have the news on the transition of Citi Prestige. The new name of Citi Prestige will be Axis Bank Olympus whenever the transition happens. There is a document floating around the internet talking about the transition, but we’ll keep to the official parts. What is known yet is that the card continues to earn 1 Point per INR 100 on domestic spending and 2 Points per INR 100 on international spending.

Browsing through the terms and conditions on the Axis Bank Credit Cards website, Axis Bank is carving out a special category for the Olympus Credit Card points. This will allow for the transfer of Citi Prestige/Axis Bank Olympus Card points in the same ratio of 1 Point = 4 miles transferred as earlier.

Coming to the rewards partners, here are the partners that continue to stay and the ones that leave in the future:

  • Accor ALL (New)
  • AirAsia Rewards (New)
  • Air Canada Aeroplan (New)
  • Air France KLM Flying Blue (Existing)
  • Air India Flying Returns (Existing)
  • Air Vistara Club Vistara(New)
  • Ethiopian Airlines Sheba Miles (New)
  • Etihad Airways Etihad Guest (Existing)
  • IHG One Rewards (Existing)
  • ITC Green Points (New)
  • Japan Airlines Mileage Bank(New)
  • Marriott Bonvoy Points (New)
  • Qantas Frequent Flyer Miles (Existing)
  • Qatar Airways Privilege Club Avios (Existing)
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles(Existing)
  • SpiceJet SpiceClub (New)
  • Thai Airways Royal Orchid Miles (Existing)
  • Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles (Existing)
  • United Airlines Mileage Plus (New)
  • Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (New)

Here are the partners that go away because Citi’s Rewards System moves to Axis Bank TravelEDGE:

  • InterMiles
  • Cathay Pacific AsiaMiles
  • British Airways Executive Club Avios (although replaceable by Qatar Airways Avios)
  • Taj Inner Circle
  • Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Red Points

One of the disadvantages of the transition, apart from losing these credit card transfer partners, is also the fact that Axis Bank’s transfer partner capping will be applicable. A pretty generous capping of 750K points transfer per annum is in order.

Bottomline

The transition of the Citi Prestige Card will be done to the Olympus Credit Card from Axis Bank, which will retain the features of the Citi Prestige Card, but will change some parts to comply with Axis Bank rules, in terms of capping rules and so on.

What do you make of the transition of Citi Prestige to Axis Olympus, whatever we know of it so far?

  1. So whats your view Ajay on this product? Worth staying with Axis for? A positive I see is that the new partners, Alaska, United provide more options (even at their devalued rates). ShebaMiles also has some sweet spots for flights to EZE and GRU. I wish ANA was a partner – that would make this a killer option

    • @Sagar, where is Alaska coming in? Shebamiles is already a partner.

As for my view, I’m staying. Rest, I cannot say for everyone. I’ve been on the Prestige bandwagon even before it was launched officially in India.

      • Sorry I wrote too fast. I meant aeroplan. Shebamiles was a partner for Prestige? I didn’t recall that.

Anyways I’ll be sticking as well. The new partners are exciting and the rewards ratio remains the same.

I hope the citi prestige customers service team is also offered jobs at axis. They were the best customer service team, closely tying with amex in my opinion.

  2. I think you misinterpret the transfer r cap. It’s in terms of edge miles so it’s actually 7.5*4l on Olympus which blows magnus burgundy and private out of the park. Which is so weird by axis, you’d expect MB or private to be better

  3. Axis banking service standards already substandard to Citi’s. I expect this card to be the same. Also waiting for the Citi online banking platform and app to turn into Axis’s prehistoric and unfriendly offering. It’s a pity Citi left.

  4. Sad to see Virgin leaving. Just booked a ticket BOM-KGL @21k Virgin points. The same was priced @35l FB Miles!

Is the 750k capping applicable to Olympus? Since M4B has separate groupings.

  5. Flying Returns and Taj Inner Circle (not checked others), havent been an option on my citi prestige for a while now.
