Marriott Bonvoy ties up with Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer to offer reciprocal benefits to elites

When it comes to reciprocal tie-ups between hotel and airline programmes, Marriott Bonvoy has been high up there, having tied up with some of the biggest and the best in the business. Marriott has long had a tie-up with United Mileage Plus, which allows for a higher than usual conversion rate from Marriott Bonvoy to United Mileage Plus, apart from United Silver Elite status for top-tier elites of Marriott Bonvoy. Many United elites also receive Marriott Gold Elite status.

Marriott also signed up with Emirates, a partnership called Your World Rewards. As an elite with Marriott, members get points for every USD spent on Emirates flights (apart from Emirates Skywards miles). Similarly, Emirates elites earn points for every USD spent at Marriott hotels. There is also access to elite benefits.

Marriott Bonvoy and Singapore Airlines launched a new “Preferred Partnership Programme”.

Marriott Bonvoy and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer have launched a new partnership today, where the two programmes are offering reciprocal benefits to elite members in both programs. The partnership works on similar lines to the Emirates one, and you can earn rewards and status in both programmes if you fly SQ and stay at Marriott properties. You can sign up for the partnership here.

Suppose you hold a KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS Club or Solitaire PPS Club status. In that case, you are eligible for an instant status match to the Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite tier, which usually requires 25 qualifying nights per annum. The status is valid for at least 12 months from your registration date. So, if you sign up in December 2023, you will get status through February 2025.

Thereon, your status renewal depends on your activity with Marriott Bonvoy and the usual rules you’ll need to requalify. KrisFlyer elite members who are already status holders will benefit from a 12-month extension of their status from the registration date.

Marriott Bonvoy Elites are being offered a KrisFlyer status match.

If you hold Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite status, you’re eligible for an instant status match to the KrisFlyer Elite Silver status tier. Like the offer from Marriott, the KrisFlyer status is valid for 12 months and will be subject to the standard programme rules for renewal (25,000 Elite miles earned in 12 months).

Marriott Bonvoy members who are KrisFlyer Elite Silver members will get a 12-month extension of this tier status from the registration date.

Marriott Bonvoy Elites will receive accelerated offers to earn KrisFlyer Elite Silver/Gold Status.

Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite members will be extended an offer to upgrade to KrisFlyer Silver Elite status for 12 months with just two flights on SQ within six months of linking the accounts. Similarly, Marriott Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador Elite members will get an offer to get KrisFlyer Elite Gold for 12 months, with just four flights on Singapore Airlines within six months of linking their accounts.

Eligible flights must be revenue in any booking class, except for G Class (Group Fares). Award tickets and codeshare flights are excluded.

Flying only four revenue-qualifying flights in six months instead of accruing 50,000 Elite miles over a year is a significantly easier method for an upgrade to KrisFlyer Elite Gold status for Bonvoy Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador members.

KrisFlyer Elites will be able to earn accelerated status with Marriott Bonvoy.

Singapore Airlines frequent flyers will also receive accelerated status offers to upgrade their status with Marriott hotels. KrisFlyer Silver Elite members must stay three qualifying nights at Marriott Bonvoy participating properties within six months from the registration date to earn Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite, which usually requires ten nights.

PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold members who sign up for the Marriott status match will need to stay ten qualifying nights at Marriott Bonvoy participating properties within six months from the date of registration to receive Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite status (which usually takes 50 nights).

Bottomline

This is the start of another great partnership for Marriott Bonvoy and KrisFlyer members around the world, as it allows for the ability to earn reciprocal benefits between the airline and the hotel loyalty programme for all elite members and expose them to new benefits without having to complete the full requirements. 1. Ajay, Is flying with scoot also included for the SQ Gold status?

Have 4 flights booked and all those are with Scoot?

  2. Having PPS at SQ & Platinum Elite at Bonvoy give no benefit … isnt it ironical to customer loyal to both are left out with no consideration

    • Such people may not be the target.

I have enjoyed KF Gold for 2 years and I obtained it through credit card transfer back in 2021. I would have missed it after Feb but my Marriott Titanium will help regain for another year. This partnership couldn’t have been more timely!
