In Late December 2022, India instituted a norm to have 2% of the passengers on international arrivals tested on arrival at Indian airports for Covid-19. While most other countries and norms had moved on, this practice was continued at Indian airports.
India repeals random testing on International Arrivals.
From December 24, 2022, 10 AM IST onwards, 2% of the total passengers on board international flights arriving in India were supposed to undergo random post-arrival testing at the airport. This requirement is being repealed with immediate effect (as of 0000 hours on July 20, 2023).

Bottomline
India has repealed random testing for 2% of International arrival into India. The requirement was in effect for over six months. Someone forgot about it after instituting the requirement. Anyhow, now it is gone.
