On May 2, 2023, Go First cancelled flights for three days and declared that they had filed an insolvency petition voluntarily with the NCLT, which is the bankruptcy court in India. From there, customers are stranded across various stations, not being able to fly back to India or proceed with their travel plans, basically.
Go First extends the cancellation of flights through May 9, 2023
While Go First had initially cancelled flights on May 3-4-5, 2023, as the hearing with the NCLT on the acceptance of their insolvency proceedings is being heard, the airline has further cancelled flights till May 9, 2023. As per a notice on the Go First website,
We regret to inform that due to operational reasons, Go First flights scheduled till 9th May 2023 have been cancelled. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the flight cancellations.
A full refund will be issued to the original mode of payment shortly.
We acknowledge the flight cancellations might have disrupted your travel plans and we are committed to providing all the assistance we can.
We thank you for your patience.
Here is how it shows up on the Go First website.
Go First stops bookings till May 19, 2023
While initially, Go First had pulled sales of flights till May 15, 2023, this has also now been extended till May 19, 2023, per a cursory look on the Go First website. However, this could not be the final state of this and readers are advised to book on another reliable carrier for now.
Bottomline
While Go First awaits a decision on the admission of their insolvency plea being admitted or not in the courts, the airline has further cancelled flights till May 9, 2023, and stopped accepting bookings till May 19, 2023. Readers are advised to look at other airlines for their travel, at the moment.
