IHG Hotels and Resorts have made many changes to the IHG One (nee Rewards) programme in 2022, including launching a new Diamond Tier to sit atop their Platinum Elite Tier, which was the topmost tier earlier. These changes were positive, and, finally, put IHG One in the reckoning again.

Now, for those interested in earning status on IHG One, the loyalty programme has introduced a new fast-track status promotion. The new promotion is open to everyone, including those who do not have any status with other programmes.

IHG One status challenge 2023

IHG One Rewards has introduced a new status challenge, with no requirements to hold elite status with any competitor. IHG One members who register get the opportunity to earn Gold/Platinum status based on how many nights they stay within 90 days of registration:

• Stay two nights during the offer period to achieve Gold status (through December 2024)
• Stay five nights during the offer period to achieve Platinum status (through December 2024)

The promotion is open for registration from February 1 to April 30, 2023. From there, you have 90 days subsequently to complete the stays. Your stays could have been booked before registration, but you must register before check-in. Furthermore, a qualifying stay is booked directly with IHG (via the call centre, the hotel, or the website), and the member is paying a cash rate of over USD 30 (INR 2500).

Ordinarily, Gold Status with IHG One Rewards requires 20 elite nights/40,000 qualifying points in a membership year, so you qualify for Gold status with just 10% of the nights required.  For Platinum status, you need 40 elite nights/60,000 qualifying points, so you are getting qualified for Platinum with just 12% of the nights required.

It does not hurt to sign up for the promotion. You can also use the same stays to earn bonus points using the IHG One 2K for 2 Nights promotion.

Bottomline

IHG One Rewards has introduced a new status fast-track offer for everyone who wants to sign up. After registration, if you stay two nights within 90 days, you will earn IHG Gold status through December 2024. If you stay five nights after signing up, within 90 days, you can earn IHG Platinum status through December 2024. The status is valid for two years.
