Plaza Premium Lounges in Nagpur, Chandigarh and Amritsar are now closed (as well)

That moved pretty quickly, I’d say. Last weekend we heard about the Delhi Terminal 3 Lounge, operated by Plaza Premium, being shut down without any explanation. It then came out that all the Delhi and Hyderabad Lounges of the airport lounge operator are now temporarily closed. That left them with operations in Nagpur, Chandigarh and Amritsar.

All remaining Plaza Premium lounges in India are now closed.

It initially looked like it had something to do with the tenancy of the Plaza Premium Group at airports under the control of the GMR Group. However, that does not look like the case anymore, given all the remaining lounges operated by the said operator in India have also been “closed down temporarily”.

An update on November 17, 2022, late in the day, indicated the closed status of all the remaining lounges of the operator. This would then mean a problem, perhaps at the end of the Plaza Premium Group’s end rather than at the end of the airport operators. Here is a screen grab from the website.

There is no clue as to what is happening at the moment, so all I can say is to make sure to arrive just in time for your flight since most of these airports don’t have another lounge operator either.

Bottomline

Plaza Premium Group’s Lounge operations in India seem to have come to a grinding halt, with all their Indian lounges now listed as closed. The first off the block was their Delhi operations, followed by Hyderabad, and now Chandigarh, Amritsar and Nagpur. At this time, there don’t seem to be any alternate arrangements to this effect.

Has anyone flown out of Chandigarh/Amritsar/Nagpur since November 17, 2022, and can they tell us what they saw at those airports?

  1. Very unusual that we have a humongous domestic and international traffic right now and and major airports dont have a lounge across the country. Very surprising. And no announcement as yet from Plaza or Airport folks. Lack of professionalism, some urgent issues, no one knows. Lack of communication makes you feel that airport operations is now a monopoly and the operator has no concern for customers as they have never dealt with mass market and are not worried about them.

  2. Hi Ajay,
It’s amazing to see your interest in aviation industry, but instead of spreading halfway assumptions of you without having any discussion with Plaza Premium Lounges management is creating more confusion in the general public. So better to have an exclusive interview with the Plaza Premium Lounges management would bring clarity regarding this shocking and intense happening.

    • @Ranjan, can you tell me what confusion I have created amongst the general public? The Lounges are closed, yes. What more do you need to know?
Also, our request for a statement has been pending with PPG for a week.

    • What’s the confusion here ! And what is the halfway assumption ?

Mr Ajay has done a very nice thing to update all about the closure of Plaza Premium Lounges across GMR run airports.

He has made this also clear that their PR agencies have not responded to his queries.

  3. Yes. Today, 18-11-22, I am at the Nagpur Airport at 15:00 hrs. The Plaza Premium Lounge is closed and a notice of temporary closure due to administrative reasons is displayed.
