Jet Airways seems to have one more check done to bring it closer to the restart of the airline. The airline has been assembling a team together to get the proving flight done, which it needs for receiving the Air Operators Permit from the Indian regulator. Jet Airways’ official social media handles, recently tweeted about the airline getting closer to its proving flight.

This would indicate the airline’s crew is all set to demonstrate that it is ready and trained, to be able to operate under various circumstances to operate a flight. Today, the second part of that puzzle was sorted, when Jet Airways’ 2.0 CEO Sanjiv Kapoor confirmed on Twitter that the airline has been able to induct a Boeing 737 aircraft, which will be used to conduct the proving flights, etc. VT-SXE is a 15-year-old airframe, which has been in storage since December 2021.
Ironically enough, it is an ex-Jet Airways aircraft, which was taken over by SpiceJet, which will now return to Jet Airways’ new avatar to help with the proving flight operations. Not just that, Jet Airways has also received the 9W identifier for its flight operations again. This means Jet Airways will start operations with the 9W code again, whenever it does, in the next few months.
Indeed VT-SXE will operate the proving flight soon. The proving flight is one of the FINAL steps required for AOC.
In other good news, the 9W code has been officially restored for use by Jet Airways.
Cheers to all. https://t.co/7W2K1iHCmm

While Jet Airways (2.0) intends to restart operations with leased aircraft, it is eventually going to place its own aircraft order as well.
Bottomline
Jet Airways intends to complete the DGCA procedure, including proving flights, at the earliest, allowing the airline to then move forward with preparing for a launch. The aircraft inducted was an ex-Jet Airways aircraft, which was then taken over by SpiceJet and recently put in storage.
What do you feel for Jet Airways as it prepares for a comeback?
