As of March 27, 2022, which was yesterday, India opened up scheduled international operations, closing out the air bubble arrangements that had been used in the past couple of years for limited international operations. Effective yesterday, all international operations were resumed per bilateral agreements between India and the respective countries.
IndiGo to resume scheduled flying over April 2022
IndiGo, India’s leading carrier has announced the resumption of its international flight schedule from various destinations in India. These flights will operate from cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Kozhikode, Kochi, Chandigarh, Tiruchirappalli, Thiruvananthapuram, and Mangaluru.
The international destinations include Dammam, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Jeddah, Riyadh, Doha, Bangkok, Phuket, Singapore, Colombo, Dubai, Kathmandu, Maldives, and Dhaka. Scheduled operations on more than 150 routes will be restarted in a phased manner through the month of April 2022.
Flights to these routes had earlier been operating under air-bubble agreements with the respective countries. Scheduled operations to destinations in Thailand had already commenced on March 27, 2022. The resumption of these flights will bolster India’s connectivity with the globe.

In addition to these flights, IndiGo has also announced the commencement of bookings for flights to Muscat and Kuala Lumpur starting operations in May 2022 and, to Istanbul in June 2022.
With 505 flights a week, IndiGo will be the largest international operator from India, to be followed by Air India at 361, Air India Express at 340 and Emirates at 170. Of course, it needs to be noted that while IndiGo will operate regionally, Air India will be operating a ton of flights on long haul international operations.
Bottomline
IndiGo will progressively work towards (re)launching its entire international schedule in the next four weeks, becoming the largest Indian airline on International operations.
