One of the biggest consequences of the continued closure of International aviation to India was that International carriers such as Emirates, which is one of the preferred options from India to the world, were vastly truncated in their operation from India. However, with the closure of the Air Bubbles from March 27 onwards, and the resumption of the regularly scheduled flying, they are back in India with a full schedule.

Emirates will re-introduce pre-pandemic flight frequencies to its destinations in India from April 1, 2022. The airline will be operating 170 weekly flights to nine cities in the country. The move comes on the back of the decision by the Indian government to restore international flights to and from the country in line with established bilateral agreements from the end of March 2022.

Emirates will be operating the following flights

• Mumbai: 35 weekly flights
• New Delhi: 28 weekly flights
• Bengaluru: 24 weekly flights
• Chennai: 21 weekly flights
• Hyderabad: 21 weekly flights
• Kochi: 14 weekly flights
• Kolkata: 11 weekly flights
• Ahmedabad: 9 weekly flights
• Thiruvananthapuram: 7 weekly flights

Reservations for all flights to Dubai and onwards to other destinations in the Emirates network are already open on Emirates.com.

Emirates has also brought back its Airbus A380 on a daily basis between Dubai and Mumbai in March 2022. Emirates flight EK 500/ 501 is operated by the double-decker aircraft now.

The return of Emirates to India is overall good news because fares can now trend downward, and the supply of tickets to destinations across the world will increase manyfold.

Bottomline

Emirates will resume their full schedule of operations to India in the coming week and that will act a huge amount of capacity to India’s international flight schedule.
