India has been awaiting the launch of a new airline for a while, called flybig. flybig has been in the works since last year and will be a turboprop operator.
flybig received a No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and received its Air Operator’s Certificate (AoC) on 14 December 2020. flybig inducted a 68-seater ATR 72-500 which was earlier in service with Virgin Australia and was brought into India and inducted in the fleet in December 2020.
The airline’s first flight took off today from Indore, which will be the home airport for flybig, and flew to Ahmedabad and on its way back.
The airline will operate three times a week till January 17, 2021. It will become five times a week operation till February 15, 2021, and a daily operation from thereon.
From January 13, 2021, flybig will add an Indore – Raipur flight in its network, to be followed by Ahmedabad – Bhopal flight on February 1, 2021. By the end of March 2021, the airline will connect all three cities daily. Here is the Winter Schedule 20-21 as filed by the airline at the moment.

flybig intends to offer only cold snacks onboard, included in the ticket cost.
India does need a few stable regional carriers. However, the need is usually fulfilled by airlines such as IndiGo and SpiceJet along with their turboprop operations till so far.

Would request Fkybig to operate flights between Pondicherry and Bangalore,Chennai,Hyderabad and other cities to Pondicherry.This sector has been neglected for a long time by the government.

Nice Post and great efforts. After COVID-19 Pandemic this is great news for travellers.
FlyBig will have a hard time in initial days. The aircraft type they have have choosen is ATR 72, which is pretty good in terms of performance and cost. As they got an old airplane from Australia and the maintenance crew of flybig is quite fresh (+point low cost crew) but With one aircraft, technical ground time will affect them badly. Fleet of 3 airplanes is a win win scenario. We wish them all the very best.
More competition is good for prices, and more point to point options is good for travelers as well. I certainly wish them well and hope they can be successful.
The only problem I can see in the immediate term as they increase operations is going to be if there is a maintenance issue.
Once you get a delay it will filter throughout their entire schedule so quickly that it can turn into an all day affair sitting at the airport and still end up facing a cancellation.
When everything works smoothly, and on time, I’m sure the experience will be as good as an ATR experience can be, but once there is the smallest issue, the entire line is going to come tumbling down fast.
