British Airways is offering double Avios for all return flights booked from India to London and one additional onward sector (and back) for all bookings made on BA between July 19 to August 19, 2012 to commemorate the Olympics, travel can commence anytime on or before October 31st to avail of this offer. And this seems stackable with the British Airways faresale I wrote about yesterday (valid only till tonight!)
BA is frequently criticised for the high fuel surcharges on award redemptions for its flights, sometimes the cost of a ticket itself. However, it also provides great value in short segment travel.
As per the terms and conditions of the offer, members can avail the double Avios on return bookings from India to London and one additional sector at best. However, if you are flying and returning to London from different cities, your outgoing connection from London and your return to London counts for double Avios.
So, for instance, if you are booked to fly BOM-LHR-CDG-LHR-BOM (Mumbai – London Heathrow – Paris – London – Mumbai) you will get double Avios for all the sectors on this ticket (9407 flown miles, 18,814 Avios). This excludes all status bonuses and class of service bonuses.
However, if you book to travel BOM-LHR-JFK-MIA-CDG-LHR-BOM (Mumbai – London Heathrow – New York JFK – Miami – Paris – London Heathrow – Mumbai), then you will get double Avios for Mumbai – London – Mumbai (8974 flown miles, 17948 Avios) and London – New York (3451 flown miles, 6902 Avios) and Paris – London (216 flown miles, 432 Avios) only. The JFK-MIA-CDG travels, if on eligible oneworld carriers will get regular Avios (5678 flown miles, 5678 Avios). Thus, you net a total of 24058 Avios.
So, if you’re planning to get to London, this offer could make you a very very happy Avios collector.
