Singapore Airlines to introduce new A380 product including Suites in India

Singapore Airlines is revamping its product offering flying to India gradually. It currently operates the regional Airbus A330 and Boeing 772 aircraft to several cities in India.

SQ also operates the Airbus A380 to both Mumbai and New Delhi, apart from a few 777 services. The revamp started with the A350 on one of the frequencies on Mumbai – Singapore route. It was followed by the 787-10 on one of the two frequencies on the Delhi – Singapore route.

Singapore Airlines Country Manager David Lim confirmed to Live From A Lounge in a conversation in October 2018 that Indian airports will gradually see a shift to regional A350s and 787-10s as Singapore Airlines slowly retires their A330 fleet.

Bengaluru was the first Indian city to receive the Singapore Airlines A350 regional service. Singapore Airlines now operates 10x weekly A350R service to Bengaluru. Kolkata was the second city to receive Singapore Airlines’ A350 regional service.

Singapore Airlines introduced new First Class suites and revamped business class, premium economy and economy class onboard the A380 in 2017. The five new A380s with new hard product replaced 5 of the oldest Singapore Airlines A380s. Singapore Airlines also started reconfiguring the older 14 A380s, with the first one already refurbished and ready to enter service.

  1. Ajay,
One can also transfer HSBC premier Master card points to SQ in 1:1 ratio.
In fact they are running 10x promotion for Intl. transaction at the moment.

  2. Hi Karan / Ajay,

At the outset would like to applaud u guys for the wonderful job you’re doing at Live From a Lounge. I have been following your articles for almost a couple of years now. Highly informative and interesting.

Would like to know is Singapore Airlines planning to start full service SIA flights on the Hyd-Sin route anytime soon. Or will they still continue with the SilkAir product.

U mentioned the refurbished A380s from Del-Sin route is short lived so does that mean 1st Sep onwards the Del-Sin route will continue indefinitely with the old A380 configuration.
