Last Week At The Lounge: February 24, 2019

Hello from Mumbai, folks. I’ve spent my first week on the ground this month and I could not be more ecstatic about it. It has been a busy week, however, creating what I could make a reader success story out of myself. My brother had to travel last minute, and ticket prices have gone exorbitant as I note in my CNBCTV18 column this week. So, JPMiles come to the rescue, and I was able to redeem a last minute business class ticket worth INR 35,000 for just INR 1,498 in cash.

The past week, the Jet Airways financial situation came closer to resolution. British Airways went all out to celebrate their history over the past 100 years, and Air India joined the Pre-Check programme in the USA. And did you know, IndiGo has been going through stress since November 2018, which is affecting customers at a large scale now?

Cards & Rewards

American Express has rolled out the 10th offer in a span of 45 days, so if you don’t have an American Express Credit Card, time to sign up for a free one at least for the moment. You can use all the Membership Rewards that you accumulate for big-ticket holidays with the extensive list of partners. Additionally, HDFC Bank is withdrawing free status for their Infinia and Regalia card members. So get on the bandwagon now if you haven’t already.

There are a couple of nice sales, and then one of our own. So, if you haven’t jumped on, you still have some time. Jet Airways is offering a discounted price on flights, so go for it. And American Express is offering their cards for free as well.
