United Airline has issued a media advisory for today.
United Airlines CEO to Make Historic Route Announcement Tomorrow
United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz will host a media conference call tomorrow to discuss an historic package of new and expanded international routes and talk about how they are a capstone to a breakthrough year for United.
There are two things to note: historic and international routes. The Internet has been buzzing since this announcement. Some of the routes that are being suggested are EWR-JNB, EWR-LOS, IAH-LOS and so on pointing towards an Africa connection. United Airlines dropped Houston to Lagos service in 2016 which was their only service to Africa.
Also, some of the interesting ones are BOM-SFO, DEL-SFO and BLR-SFO/EWR. Services to Bengaluru are highly ambitious considering the length of the route and the market (BLR-United States) has not developed yet. If I were to bet on it would be a flight connecting DEL/BOM to SFO.
Someone also pointed out that United Airlines operated an RTW (Round the World) flight back in the ’90s. They flew on LAX-JFK-LHR-DEL-HKG. At that time talks were to replace LHR-DEL with ORD-DEL but plans were dropped post 9/11. So maybe a modern version of it?
Which routes do you think United Airlines will announce tonight?
