Reward stays at Shangri-La Hotels have just become cheaper. Shangri-La is offering up to 40% discount at Shangri-La Hotel, Kerry Hotel, Hotel Jen and Traders Hotel worldwide.
To avail, this promotion, rooms must be booked by May 31, 2018 (Hong Kong Time) for stays through December 2018. The discount rates will vary as per the room category is chosen:
- 25% Off on Standard Room
- 30% Off on Club Room
- 40% Off on Executive Room
Reward stays at Shangri-La can be booked via the Golden Circle Website, Shangri-La Mobile App, Golden Circle Member Services or during check-in at the hotel’s reception. Booking via the new Mobile App will also earn up to up to 3x GC Points until the end of this month. The Golden Circle points required to book your room will automatically reflect the discount at the time of booking. All hotels are participating in this offer except the Shangri-La in Vancouver, Canada.

Shangri-La, Golden Circle, is a revenue-driven program where the number of stays and nights do not matter and members earn one GC point for every eligible US Dollar spent. The minimum number of points required to redeem a Standard night is 1000, and this can go all the way up to 20,000 GC points for a standard room in Maldives, Paris and London.

I looked up the redemptions for Shangri-la Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa in Srilanka where a reward night costs 3,500 GC points for a standard room. Here a standard room night during the December holiday period is costing ~USD 210 and a reward night after 25% discount is available for 2625 GC points.

Ways to use Shangri-la Golden Circle points.
Apart from stays, there are multiple other ways you can use GC points. For starters, you can use points to upgrade your regular room, convert them into airmiles in the ratio of 1:1, redeem them at spa and restaurants. Members in India can make use of the Warmer Welcomes program, where you can convert your GC points into Taj Inner Circle reward points in the ratio of 3:2. That means that every 100 Golden Circle points will equal to 67 InnerCircle points.
Bottomline
If you have been stacking Shangri-la points, then this is a good opportunity to redeem them at discounted prices. Otherwise, there are lots of other ways to use GC points like mentioned above.
