Singapore Airlines has been working for the past few years on a new cabin refresh for their Airbus A380 cabins. It has been a decade since Singapore Airlines, the launch customer of the A380 has been flying the product. Now, we know more about the Singapore Airlines A380 new cabin launch plans.
As we indicated in September, SQ will be announcing the new cabin products in a Media Launch on November 2. The cabin is expected to change in many ways, including a new product for all 4 classes of service. SQ will first launch the new product on the new A380s which it will induct, 5 of them. Later, they will be putting them up on the older A380s as well.
The number of First Class Suites would go down to 6 from 12 now, most probably. The First Class Suites are also moving to the Upper Deck from the lower deck where they are present.
Now, Singapore Airlines has confirmed that will put the new cabin on it’s first flight to Sydney on December 18, 2017. The first flight of the new A380 will be SQ221 and it will depart Singapore at 20:40 to arrive into Sydney at 07:40 on the following day. The return flight of the plane would be SQ232 which would start its journey at 12:15 from Sydney.
The new cabin was initially expected to be only available next year, but it is great that Singapore Airlines is launching their new product just in time for Christmas.
Now, the wait, of course, is to have the first plane fly, so that then I can check out how it works differently than the old A380 Suites Class Product.
