PSA: GoAir shifting flights to Delhi Terminal 2 this month!

The discussion about who moves to Terminal 2 in Delhi continued over and over on this blog for a long time. First, the airport operator ordered all the carriers to move 30% of their flight operations to Delhi Terminal 2. Then, Indigo responded in the negative and SpiceJet said if everyone moves they will move as well. Apparently, this hangs in the balance now at the altar of the government. But GoAir Delhi originating flights are now moving.

Many people offered suggestions on the last blog post that Indigo or SpiceJet could have easily taken over the terminal and branded it as their own. However, the issue at hand is that this move is temporary for a few years and nota permanent setup. Hence the cold feet I presume.

GoAir, anyhow, has decided to move, so the option of having the big guys have it as their terminal is now off the books. Yesterday evening, the statement was issued:

In order to facilitate the growth of IGI Airport, GoAir has mutually agreed with DIAL to move its entire operations from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 from October 29, 2017, until the completion of the expansion of Terminal 1.

This isn’t going to solve the problem of the Delhi Airport, but it is a start nevertheless.

Bottomline

If you are flying GoAir from October 29 onwards, move to Terminal 2 rather than Terminal 1. It is just further down the road, nearer to Terminal 3! Here is the map with a pin.
