IHG Rewards Club is currently running a flash sale, offering a 100% bonus on points purchase promotion. This sale is on offer through May 19, 2017.
Points are priced at USD 13.5 for every 1,000 IHG Rewards Club points. Points can be purchased in multiples of 1,000 and the 100% bonus will kick in on a minimum purchase of 5,000 points, bringing down the value per point to 0.675 cents each with the bonus. You can buy maximum of 60,000 IHG Rewards Club points every year. You can either buy the points yourself or receive it as a gift. It will take up to 2 days for the points credit to reflect in your account.
IHG does have some aspirational properties in their portfolio that make for some great redemption choice like the Intercontinental Bora Bora. Of course if you do spend your points on any of the participating hotels available at 5,000 points per night in the PointBreaks then you have real leverage in the purchase.
IHG is currently running a number of other promotions like the Accelerate and Book Direct where you can earn bonus reward points.
Bottomline:
Personally, I will only purchase points if I have a specific property in mind for redemption, however, this is the best offer you can get on IHG point purchase.
What’s been your best IHG redemption so far? As for Ajay and I it was a week of bliss at the Intercontinental in Bora Bora.
After reading your article, I am considering buying IHG for 15,000 point ( and receive a bonus of 15,000).
Can you please confirm that if we book a hotel using point break ( like you guys did for Amritsar), is the breakfast included in hotel stay? I travel with my 5 years old & wife and having a breakfast with hotel room is a must.
If breakfast is not included, how much is it normally in a hotel like Holiday Inn ( per person in INR) for a location like Thailand?
Thanks
@Saket, breakfast is not included. The only IHG brand where breakfast comes with the stay is at Holiday Inn Express
