American Express is out with a slew of new promotions in the new year, all of which are intended to help you get to use your American Express cards and get Membership Rewards points to the maximum. There is a promotion to offer double points for Educational Institution Spends, giving away free credit cards, giving bonus points for Supplementary Card issuance and statement credit on Hyatt Hotel stays. Not just that, if you will pay your insurance bills with your Amex, you will get tonnes of more Membership Rewards points this quarter too. And if you are buying Future Group stuff on your American Express, you get discounts there too. There is now a new promotion for American Express International Spends too.

American Express is getting ready to prime up for the summer vacation season, by already rolling out a lucrative offer for you now. They are offering a new promotion for international travellers, where if you book your hotel or flights using your American Express credit card or charge card now, you get to unlock 5X on your international spending through the summer of 2019.

American Express will offer a promotional discount, of up to 30%, to book your international hotels next week using MakeMyTrip.

And they will also offer up to INR 15,000 international flight bookings discounts through March 2019, depending on the slab of your bookings, every Friday between February 8 and March 29, 2019.

For both the promotions, you need to use the MakeMyTrip promotion code MMTAMEX.

When you use either of the promotions, you also unlock your proprietary American Express Credit Cards or Charge Cards to earn you additional 5X bonus Membership Rewards on all international spends, online as well as offline. There is no cap on this promotion to earn Membership Rewards points, so that means you can spend as much as you want, and you will get a bonus 5X Membership Rewards points credited accordingly.

• 2.5 Membership Rewards/INR 100 + 12.5 Membership Rewards Bonus on the American Express Centurion Card.

Bottomline

This is a great promotion. Period. I am going to spend the next few days to try and see if any of these international hotels that have the MMT discount are hotels that I will be able to make it work for my schedule, and then go ahead and book it to unlock the promotion.
