Last week, the Aviation regulators of India gave airlines the permissions to resume in-flight meal services, albeit, only in a packaged format. We are still to see a lot of airlines thronging to serve meals to passengers on domestic routes, but IndiGo, which has some trendy meals on their in-flight food menu, has returned to serve meals on their aircraft.
Under the new mandate, IndiGo will no longer offer meals for sale on the plane, so, it means you can’t have a last-minute impulse purchase of that sandwich or Cashew Nuts as you would earlier do. But you can pre-book a meal, and it will be brought to you on your seat on the plane.
Under the new setup, every snack contains a beverage, but no hot-beverages are being served at the moment. Also, there is no longer an extensive menu. All the dehydrated items which required hot water to be poured, such as the Poha etc. are off the menu for now. Only sandwiches and a couple of other old hits are on the menu.
The next time you intend to fly IndiGo and feel peckish, plan and pick up that meal about 24 hours before flight departure. You can pre-book your meals at the time of booking your ticket or here.
