20% bonus on conversion to King Club Miles till November 30 2011

One World elect member Kingfisher Airlines is offering a 20 percent bonus on the transfer of various credit card and hotel reward points to its King Club loyalty program through 30th November 2011. The bonus is valid on a wide variety of participating credit cards, largely Indian, such as the HDFC Bank Credit Cards, ICICI Bank Credit Cards, Citibank, Axis Bank Credit Cards. Here is the promo details and the list of participating partners.

If you accumulate American Express Membership Reward points, even these post with a 20% bonus. Indian members of the American Express MR program get a conversion ratio of 1.25 MR points for 1 King Club Mile on all Indian Rupee card spends. Using this offer, you could post your MR points to King Club with a 1.04:1 conversion ratio. Since I picked up a Gold Charge Card with Amex recently (July 2011) which gives me 1000 bonus MR points for use 4 times a month, I am assuming by the time the last date for the promo approaches, I will have enough MR points to post with a bonus. The only pre-condition is that you need to transfer points worth at least 5000 King Club Miles for availing the bonus. So, for the Amex MR example, if I transfer 6250 MR points, I get 6000 King Miles (6250 MR points = 5000 King Miles plus the 1000 bonus King Miles on conversion).

Hotel partners providing for conversion include SPG, Hilton Honors, Marriott Rewards amongst others. What is interesting is also the participation of some Indian loyalty service providers like Payback in this program.

If you are wondering what is the point of transferring to Kingfisher’s program, then the first benefit is the ability to burn these on OW member airlines with effect from 2012 Q1, when Kingfisher is slated to join the OneWorld alliance. Also, award availibility is good on the domestic as well as international network of Kingfisher if you want to fly with them. Kingfisher is rated as a five star airline by Skytrax, though I personally prefer Jet Airways. Heck, it is a good airline, still! It flies till London on the west of India and Bangkok, Singapore, HK on the east.

And I saved the best of the promo for the last. If you transfer points worth 100K Miles to the program, you get a free economy class one way domestic ticket inside India valid for travel uptil March 31, 2012. However, the offer details do not state if this is transferable to anyone.

I’ll be checking up on this one in the midst of Nov 2011 to see if I could do some transfer of points here.
