Ever since Jet Airways and Citibank went their own separate ways, Jet Airways is working on a new co-branded credit card partner bank, and has publicly announced a deadline of 15th July 2012 it has set for itself to announce a new partner. It first sent out this email to all holders of the Jet Airways Citibank Credit Card:
In the interim, do continue using your Jet Airways Citibank Credit Card (JACC) until 15th July, 2012 and every spend between now and 15th July, 2012, will entitle you to earn the base plus triple JPMiles. This offer is applicable to all JACC card holders – Platinum, Titanium and Citibusiness.
Example: A Jet Airways Citibank Platinum credit card holder earns 4 base JPMiles for every Rs. 100 spent. During the offer period, the member will earn 4 base JPMiles + a bonus of 12 JPMiles, i.e. a total of 16 JPMiles for every Rs.100/- spent.
However, there is a new ‘wheel of fortune’ that went live on the Jet Airways website on 12th June 2012 which is asking for your vote to choose which bank should Jet Airways tie-up with. Participants who pick the correct bank (which will eventually sign-up with Jet Airways), will be offered a 1-year fee waiver if they choose to sign-up for the new credit card.
Evidently, Jet Airways either has no clue of what bank it wants to tie-up with, or it is trying to make a pressurising case with various banks to get itself the best deal at the end of this exercise. As is to be expected, there is no mention of Citibank in here, so Citibank is not in the list of partners that Jet Airways is looking to partner with.
Usually, these business considerations are negotiated behind the scenes and kept so all the way. I am very amused that Jet Airways is making such a big issue out of signing up its co-branded partner, and trying to get one-up on Citibank who has offered a reasonable option in the Citibank Premier Miles Credit Card.

As I write this only about a week remains for the 10000 bonus miles offer on the CITIBANKPremier miles card in-lieu-of JET AIRWAYS CITIBANK CARD.
Though Jet has made an generous offer for extra miles to the loyalists who hang on till the 15th of July, based on my discussions with co-passengers on two JET flights I took yesterday,it appears that unless JET makes a concrete credit card offer in the next two to three days, they may loose out to the premier miles card!!! This will eventualy dilute their loyal JP Members base.
