Vistara resumes in-flight meal service on domestic flights

Last week, the Aviation regulators of India gave airlines the permissions to resume in-flight meal services, albeit, only in a packaged format. We are still to see a lot of airlines thronging to serve meals to passengers on domestic routes. IndiGo was the first to get meals back on the plane. Now, Vistara has started serving pre-packed snacks/meals and pre-packed beverages on all domestic flights with effect from September 7, 2020.

Business Class

In Business Class, the option of non-vegetarian and vegetarian menus are going to be offered as per meal types (Breakfast, Refreshment, Lunch & Dinner). In all flights with a flying time of 90-minutes and above, cut fruits, salad, dessert, bread, and a heated meal are going to be served in disposable, pre-packed containers. In flights with a flying time of under 90-minutes, a cold meal with the appropriate accompaniments is going to be served.

Pre-packaged water, juice, aerated beverages, tea and coffee (including Starbucks on applicable sectors) are going to be offered in all flights (pre-poured in the galley). Meals offered currently include a wide variety of dishes like Peri-Peri Spiced Chicken Breast, Waldorf Salad, Rajma Galouti, Rich Truffle Pastry and much more. Here are some images of the new domestic Business Class service. Like you can see, the airline has moved to disposable cutlery and glasses in business class.

Premium Economy

Passengers in Premium Economy are going to be offered a choice between non-vegetarian and vegetarian heated meals. The menu includes sandwiches, wraps, and salad, which are served in disposable, pre-packed containers along with pre-packed juice and water. Here is the meal service picture for the new meal service.

Economy Class goes all vegetarian.

All economy passengers, including Economy Lite, are going to be served a vegetarian composite menu which includes sandwiches, wraps and salad along with pre-packed water. This has been perhaps done to reduce the time during meal service or to be able to just pre-place a meal before passengers board.

These are old images from other Vistara flights to share how these new meals could look like, though Vistara did not release any photos of how the meal service could look like on domestic flights at the moments.
