Book Virgin Atlantic Award Tickets at 50% Miles off till November 30, 2020

Earlier on, British Airways Executive Club had announced a promotion offering 50% off on award tickets to fly British Airways. Now, Virgin Atlantic has come up with a similar promotion for their Flying Club members.

As a part of their Black Friday sale, Virgin Atlantic is offering their Flying Club loyalty programme members an opportunity to book award tickets on Virgin Atlantic for travel through October 20, 2021, at 50% off the number of points usually required for award tickets. The redemption offer is valid for bookings made between November 23-30, 2020 on Virgin Atlantic only, and does not include partner airlines. It applies for travel in all cabins, and both, peak and off-peak season.

Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class is one of the better Business Class products out there and has its own set of fans. Virgin Atlantic Flying Club’s 50% off award sale is potentially a great deal for those who would like to fly in Upper Class. Here is the number of points required for travel between India and the UK (Round Trip) under this promotion (depending on Peak/Off-Peak):

  • Economy Class: 10,000-20,000 Points
  • Premium Economy: 17,500-27,500 Points
  • Upper Class: 37,500 – 47,500 Points

Thirty-eight thousand points for a round trip flight in Virgin Atlantic Upper Class is a great deal, as long as you are willing to pay GBP 322 RT as carrier-imposed surcharges and the high UK APD for departing ex-LHR.

Limited Services from India

Remember, Virgin Atlantic has limited services on offer from India at the moment, operating under the Air Bubble Agreement between India and the United Kingdom, which means Indian passport holders can only fly to London on VS flights, and not connect to the Americas, for instance. This should pan out sooner than later, however, and tickets are up on sale on the Virgin Atlantic flights for many months out at the moment. One should also remember that limited meal service is available on these flights in terms of meals at the current instance, something that might change very swiftly once it is safe to do so.

Earning Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points in India from Credit Cards

If you intend to benefit from this sale, you can transfer points from the following cards to convert them into 1 point:

You can also buy Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points with a 50% bonus till November 30, 2020.

Bottomline

Through November 30, 2020, Virgin Atlantic is offering a half-off for the points required for award tickets. Virgin Atlantic has a generous award chart, very reasonable in the number of points needed, and this makes it even cheaper. In many Virgin Atlantic markets, however, there may be a slowdown or a complete travel ban, so be appreciative of the fact that you might have to drop these tickets. Virgin Atlantic gives you credit in your FFP count for status in the Flying Club programme, which is unique to VS.
