Virgin Atlantic Flying Club launched an excellent sale for reward flights, offering specific routes at a flat 30% discount when you book tickets using your Virgin points.

With a new promotion being offered by Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, members can book award tickets for 30% lower points in select markets as long as they book between today (February 16 2023) and February 28, 2023, and travel by May 31, 2023.

The markets where the tickets can be redeemed for less are:

  • London Heathrow to Atlanta and/or return
  • London Heathrow to Austin and/or return
  • London Heathrow to Boston and/or return
  • London Heathrow to Los Angeles and/or return
  • London Heathrow to Miami and/or return
  • London Heathrow to New York and/or return
  • London Heathrow to San Francisco and/or return
  • London Heathrow to Seattle and/or return
  • London Heathrow to Tampa and/or return
  • London Heathrow to Washington DC and/or return
  • London Heathrow to Antigua and/or return
  • London Heathrow to Islamabad and/or return
  • London Heathrow to Lahore and/or return
  • London Heathrow to Mumbai and/or return
  • London Heathrow to Tel Aviv and/or return
  • Manchester to New York and/or return

The sale is valid for redemption travel only on Virgin Atlantic and not for travel on partner airlines, across peak and off-peak times, and applies across Economy, Premium Economy and Upper Class redemptions. You can also use your Virgin points for an upgrade at 30% less.

Here is some availability showing up on some of the dates mentioned above. For Mumbai – London Heathrow, you can get a ticket (one-way) starting at just 7,000 Virgin Points and 118 GBP (INR 11,700) in Economy. Premium Economy prices at 12,200 Virgin Points and 197 GBP (INR 19,500), and Upper Class is at 26,200 Virgin Points and 361 GBP (INR 35,700).

For Mumbai to the US, you can redeem 14,000 Virgin Points and GBP 300 (INR 29,800) in the Economy cabin. Take note that this redemption is for the east coast, and West Coast would price out higher.

Virgin Atlantic points can be bought at a reasonable price but also transferred from Citibank and American Express in India.

Bottomline

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club has a new promotion for award redemptions, where on the US-UK routes and specific other routes, such as those from Mumbai, you can use a 30% lesser number of the Virgin points required for award tickets and upgrades. This helps because award tickets on these routes will start from as less as 7,000 Virgin Points in Economy.

  1. While points are very less, their taxes and surcharges are very high but still cheaper than normal tickets. I feel Turkish Airlines & Singapore Airlines has the best redemption with right number of miles and taxes, they’re not inflated.
