IndiGo and Vistara return to Singapore using Vaccinated Travel Lane

Last week, Singapore gave us the first hint that flying may be resuming between Singapore and India in the coming days. An agreement has now been reached between the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, where Singapore will open a Vaccinated Travel Lane between Singapore and three points in India, and customers arriving on designated flights will be able to step into Singapore without a quarantine requirement. Singapore Airlines and Scoot have now opened their schedule to fly between India and Singapore on the VTL Lane. Time for the Indian carriers to open their plans too.

IndiGo (re)launches flights between Chennai and Singapore

Today, IndiGo announced the resumption of flights to Singapore under Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) from November 29, 2021. Following the incorporation of an air bubble between India and Singapore, IndiGo has been allocated a total of 3,618 seats per week, of which 1,624 seats will be operated on the Chennai – Singapore route under Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL). The rest of the capacity will be utilised under non-VTL conditions for travel to and from Singapore.

IndiGo will depute its 232 seater A321neo, of which it has only one in the fleet, to operate this daily flight between Chennai and Singapore. Flights are bookable from December 6, 2021, on the VTL for now, however, prices look expensive compared to other options.

  • IndiGo 51 will fly from Chennai at 10:30 PM and arrive in Singapore at 5:15 AM the next morning

Vistara (re)launches flights between Mumbai and Singapore

Tata – Singapore Airlines joint venture Vistara will also operate Mumbai to Singapore flights under the Vaccinated Travel Lane from November 29, 2021, five times a week, using their Airbus A321neo aircraft. You can check out the Vistara A321neo Business class experience here.

Air India is also due to announce their flights between Delhi and Singapore on the Vaccinated Travel Lane.

Vaccinated Travel Lane

Travellers to Singapore who are not Singapore citizens or permanent residents and wish to travel on the VTL services need to apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) before their visa application. VTP applications must be made between seven and 60 calendar days before the intended date of entry into Singapore. Passengers need to ensure that they are eligible to travel under the VTL arrangements before their flight. You can read the details of the requirements and how to apply for the VTP here.

Indian carriers are resuming flights between India and Singapore, and vaccinated passengers will be able to travel from Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai to Singapore without being quarantined on arrival. These flights will only be able to accept passengers who have a Singapore VTP on them.

What do you think of IndiGo and Vistara’s resumption of service to Singapore?

  1. Hi,

While children 12 and below do not need vaccination to enter Singapore if accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult for a VTL flight, any idea what is the rule for children 13 years to 18 years? Can’t seem to find an explicit regulation on whether the child be subjected to quarantine even though other family members are fully vaccinated.
