IHG PointBreaks available through September 2018

Earlier this year, IHG Rewards Club announced that they are revamping IHG PointBreaks and introduced three redemption tiers. Select hotels under PointBreaks are now available for 5,000/10,000/15,000 IHG Rewards Club points for stays, which is a massive discount as compared to their full redemption prices. The new IHG PointBreaks 2018 list is out now, for the period through September 2018.

IHG PointBreaks 2018

The new IHG PointBreaks list is now live for booking at has about 200 hotels are participating. These discounted stays are open for stays until September 30, 2018, so definitely a good time to plan summer travels. The nicer hotels do sell out quickly as there are a limited number of rooms available under PointBreaks, so if you like a hotel make sure to book it immediately.

Points + Cash booking is now available

Until 2017, PointBreaks hotels were priced at 5,000 points per night and could be only booked for points. Though now hotels that cost 10,000 and 15,000 points per night can be redeemed for points + cash. The cash component will differ for each hotel so you’ll need to check the price of each hotel. But largely, the rule of thumb is that you can typically pay $50 to lower the cost by 5,000 points, and $80 will reduce the price by 10,000 points.

One thing to keep in mind while booking hotels under IHG PointBreaks is that each member can only make two PointBreaks reservations at one hotel, although there is no restriction on the number of days a stay can be booked for.

Here’s the full list of hotels participating:

For 15,000 points

Bottomline

I’m happy to see some very nice hotels are taking part in the PointBreaks promotion this time around. For instance, the InterContinental in Doha, a place you can arrive visa-free, and usually goes for $200, is now 15,000 IHG points per night. Even in India, there are a couple of Crowne Plaza Hotels, and then there is the ever favourite UAE, with the Holiday Inn. I’ve also stayed at the Holiday Inn Montmartre, and it is a pretty good hotel, with small rooms like the rest of Paris, but a great location.

Are you planning to book any hotels in the IHG PointBreaks promotions? Would recommend you to book at the earliest, given most
