Diwali is right around the corner, and we have been continuously covering all the Diwali offers this year. Here is how HDFC Bank has been faring this year. They have gone the whole hog, trying to attract more customers to spend on their credit cards with the 10X offers and on the debit cards with the discounts. Turns out they are not done yet. They are associating with Amazon for the festive Diwali sales where you are getting 10% discounts as well.
But Diwali is always related to jewellery, and there is this very important category where HDFC Bank Cards will offer you 10X points on November 4 & November 5. You need to buy a minimum of INR 20,000 in one transaction to be able to get the 10X points. The limit of the 10X bonus points is capped at 10,000 Reward Points for the offer period.
This promotion is valid on all HDFC Bank Credit Cards, not just the Diners Black. However, there is no clarification on this being valid for co-branded JetPrivilege credit cards. If you end up buying using the Infinia or Diners Club Black card, however, you are in for a treat with 33% of your money coming back as points. That is a very sweet rebate on your jewellery shopping.
But if you run out of the limit, there is another ongoing promotion HDFC Bank has with Kalyan Jewellers. You get 5X Reward Points, up to a maximum of 15,000 reward points for shopping from Kalyan Jewellers in this case, and valid on transactions worth INR 15,000 or more only.
Bottomline
HDFC Bank must have put half a year of marketing budget behind all their Diwali shopping promotions. So perhaps it would be a good thing to actually take them up on the offer and stockpile all the points we can take on from them at the moment.

As per this link, https://www.hdfcbank.com/htdocs/common/festive-offers/offer-dhanteras.html, the 10X points are not eligible for cards that doesn’t have reward point feature like Jet Privilege, Valueplus Bharat and commercial cards.
Couple of additional pointers
a) Reward points are applicable on Tanishq and Caratlane
b) For Caratlane, there is additional cashback of 5% upto Rs. 2500 (no minimum spend)
b) For Tanishq, instant 5% Discount on spends, minimum spends – Rs 50,000, discount Rs 2,500. If spend is 1,00,000 or more, maximum Discount Rs 5,000

Also, no max cap on rewards in mentioned anywhere.
Only corporate and business cards are excluded, so I would assume that JP Miles would also be 10X.
Tata Cliq, Amazon and Flipkart also have 10X points, so smaller jewelry purchases can done there. In fact, Amazon might be a good bet, with 10% HDFC discount (1500), Shop More Save More (10%, max 1000) and Fashion Bonus (10%, max 500), Total 3000 on an item of 15000 + 10X points through Smartbuy.
