Emirates to resume A380 service to India in March 2022. First Stop, Mumbai

Pre-pandemic, Emirates used to fly the A380 to Mumbai daily, and used to ferry passengers onwards to the western destinations from Dubai. However, with the pandemic, and the subsequent restricted access to the Indian market, Emirates downgraded to the Boeing 777 on their few flights to India. With the severe restrictions, Emirates CCO Adnan Kazim told me in November 2021, that Emirates was being made to cap each flight and hence only 180 seats were being sold on each 777. However, the tide has now turned.

Emirates to bring the A380 to India, again

Emirates A380

Emirates, has now put out flights on sale, starting March 15, 2022 from Dubai, and March 16, 2022 from Mumbai onwards, which will be operated by the Airbus A380. The 3-class configuration A380 will do the EK500/501 rotation, at its original time. Here is the schedule.

EK500 DXB2150 – 0215+1BOM 388 D
EK501 BOM0415 – 0605DXB 388 D

Tickets are already on sale for the swapped aircraft, now that there is more certaininty about the resumption of international travel.

We also recently heard about Singapore Airlines slotting in their A380 for Indian operations, so this makes two of the frequent operators of the A380 coming back to the market. We need to see how Lufthansa reacts, which also used to fly the A380 aircraft to India.

Bottomline

The much-loved A380 aircraft will return to Mumbai with Emirates as of March 16, 2022 and start operating daily flights on the route going forward Emirates will join Singapore Airlines on the resumption of A380 flights to India.

Are you excited to be able to fly the A380 from India again?

    • There are no rules for flying into India if you are fully vaccinated, don’t even need to test, Emirates may have its own rules for pre travel tests.
