IndiGo, Go First, SpiceJet and AirAsia India Flash sale till June 19

Airlines in India are working under very restrictive rules when they have to keep the fares at certain levels because the Government of India tells them to do so. The current restrictions are on till July 2021, and airline fares have fallen off the cliff to the usual “low fares” for August-September 2021. Three airlines are now offering fare sales to drum up the sale of seats before the fare restrictions get extended if they do.

IndiGo

IndiGo offers domestic fares starting at INR 1165 for bookings till June 19, 2021, and travel between August 1 and September 30, 2021. This offer is applicable for non-stop Domestic flights only.

Also, the change fee will be waived off for any changes made to the travel date for bookings made during the sale, without any restrictions on the changed travel date. However, if one cancels the booking or changes the sector, the cancellation fee will be chargeable at currently applicable rates.

You can also book these fares on MakeMyTripCleartrip and other OTAs and tag along with other card-based promotions you may get.

  1. I’m looking at rates for various destinations from Rajkot and there’s no difference even for the fares for Aug-Sept.

The fares that I’m seeing for Aug-Sept were visible long before this sale started and are regular rates even without the sale if you book in advance.

This entire PR exercise by the airlines seems to be a waste and might just lead to negative PR because I feel like they are trying to fool us by offering the same fares as discounted fares.
