Vistara has a new CEO in Leslie Thng

Back in July, we wrote about how Vistara was going to get a new CEO as of October 2017. While the outgoing CEO Phee Teik Yeoh had the second tenure ahead of him, he got called back onto the mothership presumably to lead the customer experience at Singapore Airlines, which is one of the things that we are proud of for SQ.

Hence, SQ has sent in Leslie Thng, who took charge yesterday at the airline as the CEO. He is coming in from Budget Aviation Holdings, where he was the Chief Commercial Officer. Earlier, he was the CEO of SilkAir as well, which is the regional arm of Singapore Airlines.

While under the current management Vistara has indeed worked on some great initiatives, let’s hope they keep up the speed and do a great job at launching international operations under the new CEO.

If there is one thing you had on your wishlist for Vistara, what would that be?

      • They had AHD and GOI which they cancelled (maybe more or introduced replacement(s), i don’t track regularly). Also you would have to fight/lobby to get slots (think of the way they got 2G telecom licences back in 2010). Similar is the case with Air Asia, they started off with we won’t fly to DEL/BOM and now fly to DEL. Doesn’t DEL too have shortage of slots? I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more than what meets the eye.

        • @Neil Ahmedabad was always going to go away. See, if you can’t do 2-3 flights on a route then whats the point. Hence they cancelled BLR as well. Did not know GOI went too. they know as well people won’t go out of their way to fly Vistara for one flight a day.

  1. waiting for them to start operations between India and LHR and be a tough competition to Jet Airways. 9W has become lethargic on this route with the same old menus and service sans any new products in premiere and First. BA is not much of a challenge as Club world is a worn out product and Virgin has its own limitations hence 9W needs a strong challenger on DEL-LHR and BOM-LHR sectors. Though heard that Vistara will first head regional international and then aim long haul though I think they should not waste time and launch long haul to London sooner rather than later.
