Reminder: Buy Hyatt Points with a 20% Discount through April 9, 2024 (US Cents 1.92 | INR 1.59 per point)

There are many point purchase offers from Hotel Chains all the time. Still, one of the best promotions is from Hyatt, which offers you points with a 20% discount on points purchased. Hence, it is an excellent opportunity to buy Hyatt points cheaply.

Buy Hyatt Points Cheap, with a 20% Discount on points purchased through April 9, 2024.

Through April 9, 2024, World of Hyatt is offering a 20% Discount on points purchased when you buy at least 3,000 points in one transaction.

The promotion allows you to purchase a maximum of 55,000 points. At the top end, it costs 1.92 USD cents per World of Hyatt point after the 20% discount is factored in.

Buying Hyatt points can be a good deal at both ends of the spectrum. For properties such as the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, which goes for over USD 1150+ every night (ex-taxes) or usually 30,000 – 35,000 points per night, you can drop the price to about USD 600 with the purchased points.

Since Hyatt has many top-end properties around India and no credit card transfer partners in India, it makes sense to buy World of Hyatt points if you consider staying at a Hyatt hotel, especially with a 20% discount on the points bought. Hyatt has acquired a whole bunch of brands, and a lot of new hotels have opened in India recently. There are over 45 Hyatt hotels in India at the moment (with more coming soon), including the likes of:

Out of these, there are opportunities to redeem points at the following ones where you come out ahead with point redemptions:

  • Grand Hyatt Goa for 9,000 points (off-peak), for a hotel which goes for INR 20,000++
  • Hyatt Regency Dehradun for 8,000 points, for a hotel that frequently goes for INR 15-20,000 and more.

Which credit card should you buy World of Hyatt points with?

Typically, these point purchases are processed through Points.com and not directly by the hotel or airline. However, you will almost always pay in USD/EUR/GBP, not INR. So, the best cards to earn a bonus are Citi Prestige, Axis Reserve or American Express Platinum Charge Card, as these cards offer an international spending bonus. Beyond these, look at any card that provides a reduced foreign exchange spend conversion or one where you want to meet minimum spend requirements.

  1. Hi Ajay,

Hyatt only seems to have points plus cash offers, rather than all points. I am looking for a 2 to 3 night stay in March.

    Thanks,
    Akshat

  2. Hi
Do we have to pay additional taxes, when booking via points
So if a hotel shows 5000 points per night, then is it all inclusive or 5000+ additional taxes.
This is for room in India..
    Thanks

  3. Thank you Ajay. Thanks to you. Always Greatful to you!

Bought 7000 Hyatt points for 120$ (~₹9,000) on bonus promotion, booked Grand Hyatt kochi on Off peak date for 3 Adults in a Grand Terrace Suite room. Revenue rate was 32,000+. Had Club lounge access & Morning breakfast. Completely worth it. Had bought points in promotion and booked 3 more Hyatt properties in Off peak date. Looking forward.

THANK YOU AJAY for introducing me to Points and loyalty.

  4. Hey Ajay,
Wow..That was a great deal from hyatt especially giving 30% off..Looking forward for more such blogs..Keep up the good work

  5. Hi, I am not sure, if this one is going to elicit a response from the blogger, but here goes. Do you know if stays booked on points count towards qualifying night for earning elite status for Hyatt?

  6. Hi, Ajay. Its good deal. You are right. It depend on which hotel you select. Please let me know your experience about smartbuy hotel booking and flight booking. There are many negative reviews about it. How is the change and cancellation process? Any other issues in booking and confirmation of hotel/flight via Smartbuy?

    • Nilesh, there are some issues in buying flights from Smartbuy like prices are inflated sometimes, only cleartrip and yatra as booking options and above all no option of selecting seats while booking. I would suggest buying directly from Airlines app or website specially during covid times as cancellation fees is high and refund gets stuck through these OTA’s. Hope this helps and pls correct if have missed something.

  7. I appreciate hyatt gives an option to redeem points across multiple room categories rather than just base category rooms

  8. The difference in price vs points pay is 15%. That is what most OTA offer in upfront discount & not to forget the reward points and cashback offers running on and off on most credit card nowadays. What am I missing here?

    • @Shivi, points have an important role to play at top of the line hotels and significantly reduce the cost in these cases. By up to 50%. Trust that helps. Also, OTA stays are not counted from a loyalty perspective.

    • I’ve generally not found too much of a difference between ota pricing and that on the website for 4/5 star properties. Booking on points can be significantly cheaper.

For example: look at the hyatt regency dharamshala resort

      • This difference you see with top properties. Hotels that charge USD1000/2000 per night. You don’t find that much in India but places like Maldives, London, NYC etc where the rates are very high.

In fact, most of the time I book hotels via points when I’m travelling abroad. It lets me stay in top properties where it’s totally out of budget to stay, thanks to the points. Also, the flexibility is good, you can cancel anytime, use those points at any given time.

  9. Hi Every one,

Happy new year! Hope you all doing well.

One question if we book a room through points do we get complimentary breakfast for some one who has just joined world of hyatt programme. I know Mariott doesnt provides breakfast its just room.

    Thanks,

    Barjit Singh

    • Only in Hyatt Place.

One of which, Hyatt Place Rameshwaram, is not going to be part of Hyatt from 31.01.2021, 23:59 hours.

      S&S

  10. Also, if one registers and stays before 28th feb 2021, they get 15% of points back which gives even more savings.
    Cheers 🙂

  11. i had no idea hyatt kochi was so nice — will remember for next time. we ended up staying at le meridien, also wonderful
