Jet Airways has for long been one of the three players on the Mumbai – Singapore route. While Singapore Airlines has always flown the big jets on this route, including their flagship A380 product since last year, Jet Airways has had to scale down its presence on the route to Boeing 737 narrow-body flights given the plane utilization and their own capability to fill up their planes.
Jet Airways has been operating the following routes with their A330 planes of late:
- BOM-AMS-BOM [A333]
- DEL-AMS-DEL [A333]
- AMS-YYZ-AMS [A333]
- DEL-SIN-DEL [A332]
- DEL-HKG-DEL [A332]
- BOM-CDG-BOM [A332]
- BOM-DEL-BOM [A332]
There are other flights as well, and swapping planes seems to be normal for Jet Airways these days (for instance an A333 swapped with an A332 is common, and vice versa as well)
With planes now being free from the Brussels – Newark rotation and some other planes coming back from Etihad shortly, and the price of oil being low for the moment, Jet is upping the game again by launching an A332 flight between Mumbai and Singapore again with effect from June 1, 2016. The day flight between Mumbai and Singapore 9W 10 and 9W 11 will be the flights operating on an A332:
- 9W10 BOM0955 SIN1810 A332 D
- 9W11 SIN2055 BOM2305 A332 D
The Promotion
Jet Airways, to celebrate the move to an A332, is offering double JPMiles for everyone who is going to be flying this flight between June 01, 2016 to August 31, 2016. You need to register to be able to participate in this promotion, which can be done using this link.
To participate in the promotion, you need to register by May 31, 2016, which is something I recommend you do anyway. If you book your tickets between May 2, 2016 to June 15, 2016, you will be able to get the double miles for travel on the dates mentioned above.
The numbers
Mumbai to Singapore or vice versa is 2,437 miles. So, if you fly economy on this flight, you get 4,874 JPMiles one way, apart from any bonuses you may earn as an elite. If you fly business class, you earn 6093 JPMiles one way, inclusive of the bonus for flying in Business Class.
Bottomline
I wouldn’t go out of my way to fly this particular flight, and neither do I have Singapore on my plans at the moment. However, it always makes sense to register for such promotions since one can make good use if their plans materialize.

On the Mumbai-Singapore route, 9W-12 is the redeye flight departing Mumbai at 01:15 and landing in Singapore at 09:30. One would imagine that you’d deploy an aircraft with full flat beds on such a route. I take this flight often and can say that the angled seats in business class on a 6 hour overnight international flight are totally unacceptable. Maybe Jet can’t get the times to lineup. But I can’t understand why. Who knows.
